That is who we have rented from the past two times. MUCH better rates than anyone else. Book early and then keep an eye on them. We paid $262 last month when everyone else was looking at $600+ for the same time frame!

Elin, your ticker looks great! I'm not sure if the pictures are new, but I love them! :goodvibes

hmm I wonder how early I should book?

At the risk of repeating an answer (like I did previously), since I'm on a phone and find it hard to multiquote :rotfl:, you can book rental cars and cancel/change them a dozen times if you'd like, without penatly. In my experience, there isn't a tried and true "book early" or "book last minute" advantage.... it seems totally random. Just don't book from hotwire or somewhere that requires a full pre-pay (without cancellation) and you can book the best thing you can find as soon as you have your dates, and then just check back! :goodvibes

I got 2 phone calls today. The first was from the school nurse saying that Nicholas was sick. He had an upset tummy, but not throwing up, clammy and "green" looking. I got there, and he seems fine. A little more lethargic than normal, but okay. So now we are home and he is watching Star Wars #2. The second call I got was from a very helpful young lady, Michelle, from photopass. Come to find out my book was canceled because I uploaded a Redneck photo of our Dinosaur ride photo. I.E. - I took a photo of the photo and uploaded it into my book. Apparently that is a no-no.. So she is reactivating my photopass pictures and my pre-order code. Then I can simply replace the photo and reorder the book. Simple enough, thank goodness!

I'm so glad it worked out, without just one picture! :goodvibes

I hope Nicholas' illness is going to stay mild (and then disappear altogether)! :)

Well, the preschool where she goes now is very good. The thing is, there is not a guaranteed "feed" for the preschool into the elementary so she may not have an automatic spot there after next year.
She is applying to 2 schools. The one we tested for today is not where I want her to go, but it's not up to me.
The other school she is applying to is a FABULOUS school. DS has done summer camp there, and we actually applied for him to go there in 1st grade but he only made it on the waitlist.

The whole private school phenomenon in Dallas is very peculiar to observe. You fill out applications and submit fees in October. They schedule testing for January, and letters go out in March. You are in, out, or waitlisted. Kids who get accepted at more than one school have a few weeks to choose one, which gives kids on the waitlist the chance to get a spot. My bosses are pretty laid back with it. If she gets in, good, if not, fine, no problem. Some of these parents act like the child's entire future hinges on this ONE thing.

My ex boss was CRAZED about getting her child in. She had him testing for 4 or 5 different schools, she bribed him, she threatened him, she sent ME to the testing because she thought I could make him behave, it was way too much stress for a preschooler. But he never got in anywhere, so he went through that process year after year. She tried to buy her way in by promising to make substantial monetary contributions. It was INSANE. She would tell him all these horrid lies about public school, then tell him that's where he would go if he didn't do well on the admissions exams. :sad2: Some of the parents hire private tutors to prep the kids for the exams. (That's how I got my job with Brother & Sister. The tutor was working with my friend's charges, and asked my friend if she knew any nannies looking for a job. For what it's worth, one of my friend's charges got in, the other one didn't - they were twins. You can't FORCE a child into these things.)

The interviewers are trained to spot these things. They know which kids have been coached, bribed, coerced, threatened, etc. They also know which kids are naturally smart and engaging. That will work in Princess's favor.

This is how our private school situation is, too... I'm assuming it's similar most places. :confused3 I didn't go to preschool, but I remember very well the testing, interviewing, etc for elementary and high school. I loved every minute of it, even as a young child.... but I completely agree that some parents are insane about it!

Your comment about Princess looking forward to another meeting made me smile! :goodvibes

What are everyone's plans this weekend? We seem to be getting hit with a snowstorm of up to 10 inches over the weekend, so I'm going to Walmart to get a pizza and rent the Bucket List from Redbox. Or 88 minutes. Or Traitor. Not sure on the movie yet. :teeth:
ETA: And buy some Sabra Red Pepper Hummus and pretzel chips. That stuff is GOOD.

Lunch with my grandpa for his birthday tomorrow, then Kyle is on call on Sunday :(

Jennifer ... 80?! Sheesh! We're barely pushing 20 here. I wish Amy and Kevin had room for me in their van........

exactly!!

Cassidy's idea of planning right now is which restaurants she wants to eat at....her main focus is to get her mom drunk:rotfl: (I have promised her that she can sip any alcohol I get while there)

She knows she wants to split stay between Pop and Animal Kingdom Lodge (but if a POTC room is available I may change AKL to that). We are probably going to do the Deluxe Dining Plan, just because Cassidy wants so much signature dining and I like the fact the food is already paid for.

Got all that Chanon???:confused3 :rotfl2:

Enjoy the trip planning. Sounds like a fun trip.

Thanks for the reminder I need to call my co-worker, with some sort of work related complaint. She is on vacation. Her DH, told her that anytime she gets a call from work she must take a shot while she is on vacation. Well truly she does not even want to be on this trip. Her family is going to a wedding in Colorado. Her oldest DD is in the wedding party. Did I mention it is taking place in a tent?? Heated but still a tent for a January wedding in Colorado.

Theresa- Do weddings occur a lot in heated tents during winter months in Colorado????:confused3

Jennifer- Good luck with the trip planning.

Amy- Have a great trip.

not that I know of...but I did go to a work dinner in a heated tent at night on the coldest, snowiest night in October a couple of years ago. I don't know what they were supposedly heating it with but a couple of times it would have been warmer outside!:rotfl:

Jennifer hope Olivia is feeling better and that Virgina doesn't get it. :wizard:

Alyssa and I just got back from tap class, and now the kids are off with their dad for the weekend. I'm staying in tonight and enjoying some ME time. Tomorrow I have a hair appt. to get my gray covered up (it REALLY needs it) as well as a trim, then Bob is taking me out for my ADULT bday dinner. I have no idea where we are going. Evidently it's a surprise. The rest of the weekend will be filled up with laundry and grocery shopping. Remind me when it's 8PM. I want to watch Howie Mandel's new show, Howie Do It.

If you all get chatty tonight, don't forget to leave a forwarding address.

Elin did you make any requests for your room when you stayed at POFQ. I know its a pretty compact resort. We were pretty close to the main building on our Honeymoon.
