My brother just said he may be moving to Tampa Florida. I'm so excited. He'll be in the states and I'll be able to visit with my wonderful nephew. Plus, he should only be a couple of hours away from my favorite place in the world.

:yay: How exciting for your whole family!

Here is a picture, it is a silver Mickey head with circles that rotate inside

That is so cool! Your other pictures look like fun! :goodvibes

I read that as what do you do with rotten chicken. Immediately I thought throw it out, then I read that you bought it yesterday so I thought...bring it back :rotfl:

I definitely thought "rotten chicken" too :rotfl:

Bernadette - Hi! :) I'll send you an invite as soon as I'm through here!

ETA: Chanon, I don't think you had an invite either, so I sent one. You might now have two :teeth:

Nothing like a little excitment to go with some Pre-Trip Planning.

So yesterday I'm at work until 3:30 and after my shift get a frantic call from my wife. She is distraught and has no idea what to do. It seams that at some point that afternoon either during Aidan's PT or after he had chosen to remove his own Trach. Well for us this is the first time to have him do this. the problem was, It wasn't going back in, nor was she able to get in the smaller size.

Aidan for the last 3-4 months had been using a Cap on his Trach for about 95% of the time and we had been planning on removing it after the Cold and Flu season, but had been praying for healing. Was this the answer we had been looking for? Was this decision being made for us? What are we suppose to do? Do we have our answer, but now by fear we are trying to push something back in that isn't suppose to go back? We were at a loss, so I rushed home to find her quite emotionaly torn. However I don't think I have seen Aidan so happy.

We called his pulmenologist and he said to get to the ER and have them replace the Trach. So with heavy heart we drove to the ER, we were quite confused and even more not wanting to follow these directions. So what do I do, but call the church. I wanted people praying for us and we needed a little support. Well one of our volunteers picked up the phone and guess what, she is an ER Nurse Full Time. (Tears are flowing as I now type) She was calm and collected, agreed with our pulmenologist report, but listened to our concerns.

We were quite torn, we didn't know if we were listening or directing. Well she said the Lord is in control and let's pray for the Doctor's, not Aidan. Let's pray they listen to the Lord, allow him to make the decison through them and with Faith believe that this direction has come from him. So this is what we did. We arrived at the ER and they rushed us right into the room. Well you walk in with a 21 month old, who has removed his own trach and people do jump through hoops. Well we get in the room, nurses moving quickly and I say, hold on folks it's really not so bad, check his stats. He was statting at 100 oxygen level. He didn't need the tube, it wasn't such a rush. Well about 30-45 minutes later and a bunch of nurses scratching their heads the Dr. came in. See there is a rule that you DON'T remove trachs in the Winter, but the boy in front of them didn't want or need it back in, we thought.

He listened to our story and wasn't really sure, he said we would need to use a Trach Stretcher and put it back. We mentioned one of his doctor's, the one that did his Cochlear's was in the hospital and he know's him well. This Doctor knew Dr. Bauer and chose to call and discuss the child. I could hear him on the phone saying how healthy he looked, how he was doing really well, how there is "the rule", it was actually quite humerous and we couldn't tell what direction they were going. He finally came back and spoke with us. This was our answer, we were going to except it.

Well it seams by a 2-1 ruling the Trach was staying OUT:dance3: . We were going to be checked into the PICU for observation overnight. I wasn't changing clothes, I wasn't eating, but sometime the next day if all goes well, my son was going home Trach Free.

Well I right this, this morning after a very calm night. No alarms, no stats below 97 and besides the ice and junk outside I think I'm waiting for a Dr. to come up this morning and release us.

Praise the Lord!

Praise God, indeed! I hope your discharge goes smoothly, and the rest of your winter confirms this "exception to the rule"! I can relate to the panic in the ED, but I'm so glad they gave Aidan a chance! Keep us posted! :goodvibes

Just saw the Dr. we are going home when the roads clear up a little. No TRACH!

Our 68-degree weather is deteriorating today. The winds are going to pick up and usher in the arctic cold you all have been dealing with. There are winter storm watches, warnings and advisories all over the place. Luckily we are not supposed to get the icy stuff here, but Bob might have to deal with it where he works. This weather is weird!
Well, she is exaggerating just a bit. ;) It's not going to be anywhere near as cold as a lot of you have it. But yes, it's going to be a drastic difference from yesterday. Our low today will be in the mid-upper 30s. And a bit warmer tomorrow.

I hope no ones minds me asking, but who has Nicholas and Alyssa for the ornament exchange? They haven't received anything yet and I just want to make sure that the packages haven't been misappropriated by Elizabeth's mailman or something. If you could just let me know that they haven't been mailed, as they keep asking about them. No one understands being busy more that I do, so it's okay!

Vicki and Jennifer - Vicki's zip code needs to be edited on the contact list. It's got an extra digit in it.

Mac -- that is terrific news!

Elizabeth -- I hope DH makes it home safely. I was worried about everything I had to do today, so I was headed out the door at 5:30 when I heard the roads were bad. Our local school is on a 10 a.m. opening as is the boys' school. I called my Dad to see if his 18 wheelers were running, and they weren't. Some of the highway seems fine, but other areas aren't. Since I have more than 30 bridges/overpasses to go over, I'll need to wait a little longer for all the cars to help melt the ice. I have been getting a bunch of work done from here, so I should be okay. There are several errands I need to run so hopefully I'll get in.

I think it is worse out your way. DH didn't have any trouble (he was home by about 6:40 AM) but he saw several accidents. There was stuff falling (really fine stuff, like frozen baby powder) on my way to work and the temp was 27. I think windchill is about 16. Princess and I are staying IN today, I think!

How wonderful!!! :)

My mail seems to be arriving appropriately, so maybe my mailman moved to VA? :scared1: Now that I said that we won't get mail for the next 3 weeks. :rolleyes1

DH left for work about 40 minutes ago and I am WIDE awake.
The news at 10 PM said there was a 14 car pile-up right outside our apartment. The police were shutting down sections of the highway due to ice. Not good. I have no idea if they will close the schools or not. If they do then I have wiggle room on what time I get to work. My contract has an "ice" provision. I am more worried about DH, because he has to get to work, get to his account and back to the warehouse, then get back home. If he just had one leg to complete I might not be so jittery, but completing 4 legs (all in the dark) is worrisome. :guilty:
Happy to read he was safe this morning!

Bernadette good to hear from you. Love the doll clothes!
Thanks!

Bernadette hope things slow down a little for you. :wizard:
Cute doll outfits.
Thanks! I don't see things slowing down too much. We've got Christmas, then Joe's birthday on Jan 10th, year end at work, Emma's birthday Jan 21st, my trip on Jan 27th. I think I'll be ready for a vacation if I'm packed or not!

I do not have a fever this morning, but I barely have a voice.. Ill decide by lunchtime if im going in tomorrow or not..that way, ill have time to find a good sub and get sub plans ready . If im still feeling like this, I wont be going in tomrorow--Hopefully i have a bit of a voice to teach today!
Hope you feel better soon!:wizard:

Saw a commercial last night, seems the cable company is going to do a test. If you don't get an interruption then your TV is ready for the new digital cable, but if there is an interruption then you will be told what to do to correct it.
The TV in my bedroom isn't hooked up to cable. I finally got around to ordering a converter box coupon. That converter box is amazing. I can't believe how crystal clear the reception is now and it was so lousy before. And I get more channels now too. I could probably live without cable but DH couldn't.

They came Sunday during our open house & we have not heard anything.
Nice doll outfits!
Thanks! Continued :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for your house sale!!!!

Bernadette - If I lived in the barn next door I could help you with your tree. ;) Unfortunately I don't think I will make it up there to help you this year. The doll clothes are great! Good luck getting things finished up! :wizard:
Thanks! You should see the size of the tree they put up in the barn!!!! I think you might be better off buying the new house next to the barn though. It must be more fuel efficient. I'll have to take pictures of that one for you.

I'm glad you stayed home and are able to get some stuff done. Stay safe!!!!

:woohoo: How wonderful!!!!!:woohoo:

But the barn is big enough to hold my treasures! And I would LOVE to have a bigger tree!
Kind of funny, there is another Chip Man on the boards who lives in Boston. He and DH both post on the Photo boards. I don't think I could live up there in the winter. And there would be a definite learning curve for DH to learn to drive in snow/ice that lasts more than one day. I would just have to stay home if there was snow. :rolleyes1

The new house is probably big enough for you too! It is huge!!! I bet at least 3 times the size of ours. AND....it has been on the market for a little while now-maybe you could get a good deal on it.

AND....there are a million kids in our neighborhood so I bet you get a job within walking distance.:thumbsup2 OH...and a great school system for your DS-he'd probably only have about 100 kids in his grade. OH....and cheaper flights to Orlando!

I think it is colder in Dallas than Boston today.

DH just called. He was taking a little nap. Arabella jumped on the bed with an ornament in her mouth. She dropped it, then head-butted him so he would acknowledge her "gift". It is a plastic glittery snowflake we got for free. The problem is it was hung with a loop of fishing line. DH said there is no fishing line on it now. :headache: If she ate the fishing line we could be in for a very expensive vet bill. :sad2:

I wonder if the listing is online?
I can't walk to work in the SNOW! :scared1:
Yes, TODAY is it colder here, but it will warm back up here tomorrow. ;)

Elizabeth, plenty of :wizard: that the kitty didn't eat the fishing line.

:wizard: :wizard: that it comes out, one way or another. I hope she didn't eat it.

we might hit the 20's today:woohoo:

Mac-your story gave me chills...and not just because it's cold.:goodvibes Be careful driving and may the cold and flu season pass over your house.
