DDA Chapter 15

I am glad your DD recognizes you did things properly! :thumbsup2

I don't think I am going to get to be friends with my mom. I decided yesterday that I am finished arguing with her. She can do whatever she wants, and I am not going to hound her. She does whatever she wants anyway. She doesn't want or appreciate my advice, so there is no point beating my head on the wall trying to get her to listen. I'm done. Either she will get better or she won't, it's not something I have any control over. I will still call and ask her how she's doing, but if she says she feels like crap my response will be "I hope you feel better soon."

If she chooses to come see DS next week, great. If she blows him off in favor of my sister's kids, great. We should be used to that by now anyway.

We'll remind you of this the next time you tell us you have been arguing with your mother. :lmao: You just aren't built not to care about it Elizabeth. This would be very difficult for me to watch as well.

Terry, my mom and dad used to argue over that too. Dad was born during the depression so you ate what you were given, and while mom was raised the same way, she decided once she had kids she wouldn't do the same. Most of the time we would try the food on our own and if we didn't like it we didn't have to eat it. Also if we decided not to try something it was not a big deal to mom and we didn't have to eat it.

When we were too young to make something different, mom would make us something she knew we would eat. Once we got older, if we didn't like what she made we made our own.

I was brought up to eat what was put in front of me. I would end up at the table for an hour after everyone else was done trying to choke down the meat. It just stuck in my throat. I swore I would not do the same to my kids. As I got older, I started to enjoy meat and figured they would do the same.

The girls had to try a "no thank you bite" meaning they had to try a bite and if they didn't like it, they could say No, thank you to a serving of it. If they didn't like what I made for dinner, they made themself a peanut butter sandwich.

checking in real quick....we are heading to our friends funeral soon....

the wake was horrendous. Christoper cried for an hour straight and the only person who could sort of calm him down was Bill. I am hoping the funeral won't be as bad since he won't have the initial shock of seeing her for the first time.

In talking with the family....apparently she died to a medical mistake....making the situation even sadder!

Other than that, Jonathan is home...his car is on the fritz...hoping for a not too expensive repair....

Oh....and apparently Bill's mother is having some issues...not good ones either.

Damn...aren't I a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day!!

:grouphug:

I hate coats. I almost never wear a coat. As others have said, "You know it's really cold when Beth has a coat on." Today I let Laura go to school in several layers, but she wasn't wearing an actual coat. But she goes straight from someone's car into school. She rides the bus home but doesn't have too long a walk from the bus stop. Matthew also did not wear a coat. He had a couple of layers, too, but the outer layer was a heavy sweatshirt. Guess i'm not winning "Mother of the Year" again, huh? Miles will have a coat, gloves, and a hat, though.

I don't like wearing a coat much either. However, in Michigan, you don't go anywhere without taking a coat, hat & gloves with you from September-April. There have been too many times that people get stuck and don't have warm enough clothes. I remember once being on a bus coming back from a basketball game. The bus broke down. It got cold very fast without any heat!!!! We were all huddling together. We took all of our basketball clothes out and were using them however possible to try to stay warm. Some girls were using their socks for gloves, shirts were hats, etc.

I usually throw a coat (with hat & gloves in the pocket) in the car. When I'm in the U.P., I don't put it on when I go shopping or anything. I'm outside for such a short time that it isn't worth it. I have my snowmobile suit, boots, gloves & hat in a bag in my state car. They stay in there from October-April in case I were ever to break down on the road.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Tickle Me Elmo, oh wait, I wasn't a kid, I was 19. :rolleyes1 But I did really really want one and they were the hot item that year. I was working returns at Target on Christmas Eve and a lady returned one an hour or so before closing. She said that she wanted to bring back the duplicate right away so she could try to make someone's Christmas. I waited until just before closing planning to give it to any customer who happened to ask (we'd had several ask throughout the day already), but no one did. So, I bought it and snuck it under the tree for myself. I loved that thing! (And yes, I'm a nut. )

I bought a Rock'n Roll Elmo for myself when I was 30+. I love it. He is so much fun.

Just a pop in to say that I am waiting for my dad to get here and take me to the ER. I sliced the top of my left thumb almost completely off. Gail came over to bandage me up. Eric just walked in to take over kid duty.

:grouphug:  I hope it isn't too bad and heals quickly.

Hugs to all of you. :wizard: I am sorry it is so crazy for all of us.

So I asked for good thoughts for my family and told you I would share later. So here it goes.

My Aunt and Uncle are separating. Aunt is going to Tennessee for Thanksgiving leaving my Uncle and the two boys here. She is coming back and they are still planning on living in PA until June. As of then who knows where they will end up. Apparently my Uncle is going to end up with the two boys. Let's just say they are both Mama's boys, so I know it is going to be tough on them. They are 10 and 14.

My Grandpa fell over backwards. He hurt his back and some other stuff. I am not 100% sure exactly what. He is in his 80s.

My brother had hurt himself during the car accident. He has at least one dislocated disk in his back. Plus he has summons, because they are now claiming the accident was his fault even though, the guy admitted to the police it was his fault.

We had two new employees start on Monday to replace, two of my co-workers in membership. The one's final day was today. The other moved to another department. So this has made time in the office crazy as myself and the other remaining membership manager are trying to train the two new hires. We are also trying to get our own work done. I have been out like 4 nights plus weekends every week this month. I am glad December is almost here as it is my slowest time of the year. As everyone is out and about with holiday celebrations.

Plus I had to clear snow off my car last night and this morning. Not my favorite thing in the world.

So I hope all of your lives are going better then mine.

If you hung in through all of this. Thanks!:cloud9:

I am back with 2 stitches in my thumb. Once all the bleeding stopped it wasn't as bad as I first thought but I did do some damage. Total ER time was 2 hours, which is really fast. It doesn't hurt too bad right now but I am sure it will be later.

Thanks for all the well wishes for both Joe and I. I talked to him when I was waiting and he says he feels much better now.

I'm glad it turned out not to be too bad. I hope the tetnus arm doesn't get any worse and the pain stays mostly at bay.

Tia and Chanon are Photopass Cd's came. We had over 1000 pics. I will get Jeff to help me copy the pics off the Cd's. They sent us 3 Cd's total.

Yeah!!! Thanks again for doing all of the arranging for this.

OK, definitely not THAT movie for us. I did call DH and tell him I want Chinese so he has to go to the ATM. He was OK with that, but he wasn't thrilled with the movie idea. We'll see what he manages to do before I get there. DS is like me - when he gets home he likes to put on his lounge pants and STAY HOME. But maybe going to get a movie would be an incentive for him to put his clothes back on.

I think Terra's going to be like that too. She asked me first thing this morning if this could just be a "stay home day" and hoped that no one was coming here, which they weren't. We did leave for a little bit tonight to go to Target, but that was only because I needed to get a few things to finish up the playroom. We did get dressed, but I'm thinking maybe I should have just stayed in my jammies. :goodvibes

6. Favorite gift received as a child? record player & "My Dingaling" 45

I loved that song as a kid! It was on one of my dad's albums that was all silly songs like that and we would always listen to it.

Becky - Sounds like a lot going on with you and your family right now. Lots of prayers and :wizard: for you all. I hope your brother and grandpa are feeling better soon.

Well, I got the playroom 70% done this afternoon. Unfortunately the remaining 30% is still all over the living room so I guess I had better go finish. I moved everything out of the playroom so that I could rearrange the big pieces and have been working on getting the small stuff back in. I do have at least one big box of stuff going out of the house all together, and probably two, so that is good. Right now though, I'm starving so I've got to figure out what I want to eat and where to get it. Something is being picked up for dinner, that's for sure. I'm too beat to cook now!

We'll remind you of this the next time you tell us you have been arguing with your mother. :lmao: You just aren't built not to care about it Elizabeth. This would be very difficult for me to watch as well.

I am built that way now. The part that made me willing to kill myself trying to make my mother listen to me is broken, and I will not be replacing it. I'm done.

Becky, lots of :wizard: and  for you and your family!

Apparently we aren't having dinner. DH went to the ATM but he couldn't find a menu for Chinese so he decided to do nothing. Now it is way too late to call for Chinese. I love how I am the only person capable of doing ANYTHING. Really. It's fabulous. I hope I live to be 100 and have to do every last fricking thing myself.

I am staying in Lansing again this week-end. Chuck & I were going to meet at my mom's which is just a little over halfway home for me. However, the weather wasn't looking good and we both thought the time would be better spent getting some work done so we can enjoy the long holiday week-end when I get home next week.

I should be organizing. I really have to find a way to keep track of everything that I need to be doing. I have a total different set of priorities so my old system doesn't work in my new job.

Sorry Elizabeth. I could teleport you our leftover pizza. (I can't find that teleport smiley)
