DDA Chapter 15

I am so torn right now. I just found out that the memorial service for Emma's friend's dad is Saturday at 1pm. I have all day training for Girl Scouts. I need to go to the training but I need to be there as well. Eric will be able to go as my mom can come over here and sit with the kids but I want to go.

Well, I would go to the training, leave for the memorial service, then go back and finish up the training if it wasn't over by the time I finished at the memorial.

This was exactly what I was going to say.

Or can you take one part of the training that day and other parts another day? Most councils I have dealt with have a multi-part training. Plus I know leaders here have one year to complete training after appointment to a leadership position.

I knew somebody would come up with the same solution I would suggest.

I'm so sorry for your loss!

I really don't pay much attention to people's typos, misspellings, etc. on message boards. I know that when I type quickly I mess things up, too.

I have been summoned for Jury Duty. At least it's not until after the holidays, though. It's a US District Court about 1/2 hour away. This is only my second time summoned for any duty. The first was a county grand jury, and I was released almost immediately, because they had too many jurors. Since it covered my first day of teaching preschool (and very few others asked to be excused), I was excused.

Well you can do what Tina Fey did on 30 rock..she went to jury duty dressed up as Princess Leia & they let her go!:rotfl2:

Can you call GSA and see when the next training is, or maybe do it online. BSA has online training.

If anyone is looking for a deal on workboots you should check out www.joesnewbalanceoutlet.com I bought Chris a pair of Dunham workboots in a 4 E width for $19.49. They came today and they are very nice leather, steel toed boots. I would have ordered him another couple of pairs, but they are out of his size. I did order Nick a pair though. Free shipping too :thumbsup2

I need pixiedust: for the week ahead. Can't go into details at this time but this is going to be a rough week at work. I'll share details later. I'm ok and all our jobs are safe (to the best of my knowledge). It is nothing like that but I can't say more at this time.
:wizard:

My mom and Diva got home safely. Mom called DS about 5 PM yesterday to tell him they were home. She said Diva was sick Saturday night, but since we all ate exactly the same thing and nobody else was sick I can't imagine it was the food. I hope Mom doesn't get sick. It would be really bad for her to have a virus incubating and then get that huge blast of chemo. :scared:
:wizard: Hope your Mom doesn't get sick!

The girls are sick :(
:wizard: Hope its short lived.

So I woke up with the start of a migraine this morning...so I turned over and fell back asleep.:goodvibes Now it's time to start finding that job God has out there for me!!
:wizard:

My uncle passed early this morning. I want to thank you all for the hugs over the time that he became ill.
 Sorry for your loss!

DS got his report card today. Straight B's, with A's in Band and PE. :rotfl: Not too bad. It's 7th grade, not college. These grades will not determine the course the rest of his life will follow. I told him I would like to see more A's next time. If he can manage to continue with B's I am happy with that. I don't want to put too much pressure on him, but I don't want him to think he can just coast and not put any effort into it.

DH said his vacation bid is Wednesday. I guess I will cross my fingers that he can get the dates I already booked, or I will be paying some hefty change fees for the plane tickets and scrambling to adjust our DVC ressie.
Congrats to DS. :wizard: Good luck with the vacation bid.

Where oh where did everyone go...where oh where could you be?

I've wasted a couple of hours entering every Disney and Hawaii sweepstakes that I could find :lmao: Since I have no trips planned I need something to dream about.;)

The girls are sick :(

Oh no! I hope that it passes quickly without too much incident. :wizard: :grouphug:

Good luck with everything!

 I'm so sorry. Our thoughts are with your family.

I just went to buy wrapping paper..party city always has the rolls for a good price. My only issue is that I never know if I have enough.:rotfl:

Ok I starting packing..I put my toothpaste in the bag!!:rotfl2:

By the way, I should tell you the good stuff since I always tell you the bad. Katie was a sweetie pie this weekend (well most of it anyway! ) She was even sitting at the table discussing how Santa gets around the world in one night with Daniel. I think when there is no school pressure then she is more relaxed & not so grouchy. She was playing with Sophie too & being rather helpful. She even sat on my lap & gave me a hug yesterday..I almost passed out!

I'm so glad that Katie had a good weekend! It's a wonder what a few days off can do for a person.

What is everyone having for dinner tonight?
We are having turkey soup, mom is making it. I told John now that mom is across the street, I will let her make the homemade soup. :teeth:

We went to Chick-fil-a since we had to drop Mom's car off to Erin since hers is in the shop. The best part was that Erin paid for it all too. Free makes things taste even better. :cloud9:

Congrats to DS! I'm glad that everything came up to at least a B. Good luck on the vacation bid.

Yesterday and today I went to Stephanie's home and we worked on our designs for our stateroom door. I must say that they look great. We promise to post lots of pictures from this trip.

I am getting so very excited. I am literally counting the hours now.

Last week the kids were off all week but we had all day camps for them. What that means is when I do the attendence, it will involve a little more time because of the difference in posting.

This week cannot go by fast enough!!!

I'm so excited to hear all about it. I've got to live MouseFest vicariously through you guys for now! You're really doing it up right. :goodvibes

Thanks for the offer. It is just something that I have to deal with at work. Basically, a bad situation presented itself which could have meant chaos for my division. So far things are shaping up better than could have been anticipated. I'll share more when/if I can.

I hope that it all continues to work out okay.

Hello DDA! I'm sorry that I had to miss so much in posting. There's just no way I could catch up on 30 pages tonight. I can barely get two thoughts strung together today. I drove 80% of the trip down on Thursday and 100% of the trip home yesterday. It was SO windy on the OK turnpike that there's no way Kristi could have managed. It was a tough two-handed driving job and she's hurting too bad to use her right hand for much of anything. It was also misty and lots of flurries on top of that. We made it home though without much incident.

The visit was really nice except for Kaylin being sick the way down and plus having what ended up being pink eye. So far everyone seems to have avoided sharing that one (knock on wood). My cousin's reception was nice and it was fun to hang out with the family. That night we all watched the OU/OSU game at my aunt's house. It was pretty nuts with a bunch of hard-core Sooner fans, a couple of hard-core OSU fans and the heard of us Longhorns. Terra managed to win one of the pools though, so that was fun! She says she's saving her $10 for her hamster. (The one that she really wants and I guess I'll have to break down and get sometime. I'm thinking at least the new year and maybe her birthday.) We spent the trip home yesterday waiting for the BCS rankings to come out to see how UT faired. Guess we're rooting hard for Mizzou in a couple of weeks.

We're all home and settled now. Just a busy week as usual and then Kristi's surgery on Friday, which will add even more craziness. I hope that you all had wonderful holiday weekends!!!

So after wandering around my grandma's house on Saturday afternoon, I've decided that I need to go down there for a family heritage preservation trip sometime. I'm thinking that I need to just go down there for a week with a laptop and scanner in tow. Or at least set up shop with someone else's computer down there. Then I just need to spend a lot of time scanning family photos and documents. She has stuff everywhere in that house.

It seems like there were dozens of flat surfaces with pictures stacked on them. I was opening random drawers looking for wrapping supplies and would come across more photos and documents. Stuff from at least 4 generations if not 5 or 6 or even more. I know that my dad doesn't have much of that stuff and I don't think my aunt does either. If anything ever happened to it at Granny's house who knows how much history documentation we'd lose. I'd offer to bring it home bit by bit, but from past experience I know she's worry about it's safety that way even that's what I'm trying to preserve.

Well, I am dying for some sleep and am in hopes of finding the use of my brain sometime during the night. That ability seems have left me sometime during the day today. Happy Tuesday everyone!

Elin, enjoy your night.

Thanks, Heidi. I did! we had a great holiday concert with a nice-sized crowd. And a glass of wine with friends afterward was a nice way to start the wind-down following the show.

That happened for one of the parties we went too as well. The tree may be in the rose garden so you can still see it. That's what they did before. Maybe now they are just not putting it up until after the parade? Not sure.

It is in the rose garden... I have seen pictures taken this week.

Good night, everyone. I hope tomorrow is a better day for all of us!

I'm so sorry to see this Heidi. Gentle hugs are wionging their way to you and your family.:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
