DDA Chapter 15

Jennifer - When I took DS to school this morning there was sleet stuck on the roof of our building. DS was actually up at 6 AM to see if the schools were closed. Goofball.

Our school district has a new automated calling system. Tuesday we had a phone call at 6 am to let us know about the 2 hour delay. My kids didn't wake up, though, and I turned off their alarms.

I have been fighting a headache all day and haven't yet gotten out of my jammies. I also haven't applied for any jobs(because there haven't been any to apply for) but I do have two appts. set up so it's been a fairly productive day. I do think I am heading off shortly to change and take a nap as I have the high school band concert to sit through tonight.

Deb glad your being proactive, but remember he just started school he will get it eventually.

The teacher was the one that approached me, so I need to be very proactive.

I always get my kids one that has something to do with the past year as well. I'm getting Nicholas a football one. I have no idea what to get Alyssa.

How about getting Cassidy something that has to do with turning 16? A car maybe?

Alyssa needs a dance or theater ornament

Yes Daniel has the first book & a pack of booster cards & he loves it. Katie got him more cards from her holiday fair at school & she was giggling that he was going to be so happy.

I know, I spent a ton of money on my kids & it doesn't look like much all over the living room floor right now.

The Wii & DS games are so expensive & they are so tiny under the tree.

I definitely hear you about the size of the "toys" being sooooo small and the price tags sooooo big these days. And then to spend $30-$50 on a game without even knowing how good it will be...

I'm glad that Daniel likes the 39 Clues series. I wasn't sure when I bought it, but it was in a Scholastic flyer from school. I also bought one pack of booster cards.

Has anyone read Host yet? It's by Stephanie Meyer (Twilight series). I bought it for Laura and hope that wasn't a waste of money. That was also in the Scholastic flyer.

On top of those (and a few others from the flyer), I spent $48 at Barnes and Noble today on the three kids. At least I had a gift card to help with that.

Colby took a nap (so did I ) after his nap he was asking to play video games. I told him that I would give him a test and if he could get 3 out of 5 letter correct he could play games. I gave him a sound and the corresponding letter and I chose letters that I knew he had seen on the computer today. He got all 5 correct

I've been fighting a sore throat and other crappy symptoms. Nothing too serious. Hopefully a little extra sleep will keep me on my feet. Now is not the time to be sick.

And with that I am off to wrap presents.

See my response to Jen. You should only be able to view it because you were invited. If someone is not yet on the list, or has another computer, can you check and make sure?

I forgot to say I need to get an ornament that signifies the year for Cassidy....Glynis got me one for Abi. Cassidy is so hard....any thoughts??

I was trying to think of something for my kids, too. I ended up getting Laura a Finding Nemo set, since she swims. I can't remember what I bought Miles. I'm still stuck on Matthew. There was one for getting his license, so I'll probably end up with that one.

Matthew came out and promptly did both #1 and #2 on the doctor. I've never had a little boy "get" me.

My girls have peed on the scale at 100% of their visits, and Elise pooped on the wall (when Kyle was changing her ) but otherwise I've never been peed on... and I've changed a lot of boys, despite not having any.

I'm still quite impressed imagining Elizabeth's skill though!

I hope your head feels better soon. I've been fighting a headache today, too. It's not too bad, though, with ibuprofen in me, I can pretty much handle the things I need to get done.
