Looks like Obama will be our new President!

I watched McCain's concession speech and now Obama is on with his acceptance speech. I'm so looking forward to no political ads for awhile :thumbsup2 I just hope he can turn this country around  :wizard:

I'm off to bed. I don't think that I'm working anywhere tomorrow :confused3 :goodvibes Maybe I'll actually get something done around here;)

Me too, but this is all we'll hear about now, until the inauguration in January.

I spent hours on the phone today...apparently fed ex is trying to charge $1300 on my credit card. The CC rejected it (thankfully) thinking it was fraudulent. I think someone stole my shipping account number

Oh I hope you get that fixed!:wizard:

I am taking suggestions. :goodvibes It looks like one day between the 10th & the 14th would cover all of us so far.

HMMMMMM!!!!!!!!????:confused3
You guys went to Cape May last time right? Buffet might be a good idea but other than that I have no clue yet.

Kristin and I stayed up waaaaaaay too late last night watching both the concession and acceptance speeches. I thought both men did an exemplary job in that department. As Kristin said, they both tapped into my tears. ;) I also loved watching the faces of the people on both sides of the political battle. This election certainly energized this country, and for that we should all be grateful.

I am interested to see who Obama puts into place alongside him in Washington. It should be fascinating to watch.

I do fear the 4 hours of sleep I got last night are not going to be enough, but there is nothing I can do about it now! :rotfl2:

I dozed off during one of the lulls after Obama was declared the winner and woke up to my DD toasting the TV set with a glass of wine. Obviously her candidate won...

As for the electorial college..I agree it is very confusing.:headache:

This is from Katie's homework...

When the Constitution was being drafted in 1787. the framers did not want the President & VP to be chosen either by Congress or by the people directly. To establish a role for the states in national elections and to protect the country from what they saw as an ill-informed populace, they devised a system called the EC. They envisioned it as an elite group of men selected by state who be trusted with choosing the nation's leader. The system has changed little in 200 years except now each state's political parties nominate slates of electors who are pledged to support their party's candidates.

On election day you are not voting for a candidate but rather a slate of electors who suppport that candidate.

Basically it prevents the most populated states (CA,FL,NY,TX) from chosing the President.

Luckily the popular vote supported the electoral college numbers so that we have another fair election!
(I am waiting for some glitch in our election system where that does not happen.)

Very true..if the popular votes do not support the electorial college then the who thing does not sit right with the american public.

Good Morning DDA!

Another beautiful day on tap for today. I should rake some leaves, but since I still see so many more on the trees, I think I will wait!:goodvibes

Snow showers forcasted for Sunday though. Crazy weather!

I almost have all my Christmas shopping done. Dawn finally told us what she wanted (music only iPod), and John will order by this weekend. Then just need to get mom a cappuccino card.
