Sounds like Peanut is doing great.

Elin,Elizabeth, Deb and all...He said my sinuses were infected. No temp. But since I've been home, I've been coughing up a lung, whole body hurts, headache of all headaches!!! and my nose is a faucet. I feel like crap. I seem to have had the same thing last year, and he gave me the same drug he gave me last year. I hope that it is maybe a delayed reaction and I'll feel 100% better tomorrow.:hippie:

I sure hope this drug didn't work last year, but I never called him back to tell him that it didn't work.:scared1:

Get thee back to the medicine man, Miss Stephanie. You have to get healthy!!

They always say you can't catch the flu from the shot...but the same thing happened to me a couple of years ago...so I always worry after each shot

I am so sorry, Stephanie.

What have you got? I spent the better part of yesterday and today in bed napping off and on. I have been ache-y and have run a low-grade fever and had a nasty headache. I am assuming either I had a bad reaction to my flu shot or I caught some little bug from one of my munchkins. I am feeling somewhat better tonight.

Went to the doctor on Friday. Got an antibiotic, but it sure isn't doing a thing. In fact, I feel worse than I did on Friday....

Boo hoo!!!!

I didn't start to feel better until I had been on antibiotics for 4 days. By the 5th day I was definitely on the rebound :wizard:

Hi, everyone! Don't faint, or anything, but I'm back!

Life is slowing down somewhat and I'm ready to rejoin the human race. I know there's no way I'll ever be able to read and catch up, so I'm just jumping in here. Hopefully, some kind soul will be able to give me a Reader's Digest Condensed Version for me.

I do want to thank all of you who sent condolences either by card, or by Facebook! It has meant so much to me! I also want to thank you for the beautiful arrangement of flowers! My dad was absolutely amazed! I was so touched! The flowers came before the funeral, and I just had to sit and cry at your thoughtfulness! Dad wanted me to express his thanks, as well.

With that, I'll quietly slip into the background and try to piece together what's been happening in the last couple of weeks.

It's so good to have you back :goodvibes I'm glad to read that Peanut is doing well. It isn't too much longer now. We are back from our Bahamas trip. We had a good time and I am slowly posting a trip report on here. So far I've covered OKW and Vero Beach, but haven't gotten to the cruise yet. Chris' mother's boyfriend passed away on Tuesday so we have been helping MIL deal with that. I've also started getting subbing jobs at the school, just as the business at the restaurant dropped off again. :goodvibes Our new outdoor wood furnace was finally connect today so we have heat, and don't have to worry about the oil bill :cool1: I think that about sums it up for us.

They always say you can't catch the flu from the shot...but the same thing happened to me a couple of years ago...so I always worry after each shot

The one year I actually got the flu shot I had the flu not once, but twice. I swear I'll never get it again :sad2:

Elin one of the recipes I lost was the Apple Crisp you posted a while back for me. When you have time would you mind posting it again please :flower3:

I don't have Elin's but I did get Amy's.

Apple Crisp (Amy)

Preheat oven to 375˚F.
Have ready an unbuttered 2-quart earthenware or glass baking dish, 2 inches deep.

Peel and core 8 medium apples (about 2 ½ pounds)

Cut the apples in half and then into 1-inch chunks. Spread them evenly in the baking dish. Combine:
¾ cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup sugar
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

Add:
8 tablespoons (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Or do this with a mixer or in a food processor, taking care not to blend the butter too thoroughly. Scatter the topping evenly over the fruit. Tap the dish on the counter once or twice to settle the crumbs. Bake until the topping is golden brown, the juices are bubbling, and the apples are tender when pierced with a skewer, 50 to 55 minutes.

Serve warm with:
Softly whipped cream or vanilla ice cream

Glynis - It's good to see you posting! I'm glad that all is looking good with Peanut.

Stephanie - I hope a new visit to the doctor does the trick.

Well, I was going to hang out for a little while and post, but Terra just asked for help cleaning up the playroom and who am I to refuse a cleaned up room.

We did have a great trip to Target earlier! Lots of Dollar Spot stuff at 75% off so we got a good number of things with 3-5 things in a package for 25 cents each. I think we might have enough things for prizes at her carnival now and I've spent less than $10. Most of her games have no cost to them so I just need to pick up a couple of small materials for those. Somehow, I think we're going to manage to pull this off without a lot of cost. I wasn't sure it would work out that way, but needed it to all the same.

Stephanie - Maybe you just need a different drug this time? Definitely at least call and tell the Dr. you are feeling worse.

Glynis - Glad Peanut is looking good! :goodvibes

Elin - I hope you feel better soon! The flu shot definitely made me tired. Princess didn't seem to have any ill effects, and neither did DS. DS had the mist, which is live virus. The shot is "dead" virus.

I talked to Mom today. She has finished 6 of her 12 Taxol infusions. Her fingernails are turning brown and she only has about 4 lashes left on each eye. She said her eyebrows are trying to grow back but then they fall out again. Luckily her side effects are mostly cosmetic - she feels OK. She has not had her flu shot, which worries me. She keeps saying she will ask about it. It sounds to me like Diva may have managed to get herself fired from her job. She worked Monday. Tuesday she wasn't feeling well. She was asleep and her job called to ask why she wasn't at work. She claims she looked at the schedule wrong and didn't know she was supposed to work. Well, she didn't get up and go in, and she didn't speak to them when they called, she let Mom deal with it. When she went in on Friday she noticed that her name had been crossed out for EVERY SHIFT the entire month of November! :scared1: THAT sounds like fired to me! I told Mom Diva needs to call up there RIGHT NOW and try to sort things out. But she won't. Which will suit Mom just fine because she didn't want Diva working in the first place.

I hope this is the one I posted!! :rotfl2: This is the one I grew up making but I may have found a different one for you that day. We like this one though!

Apple Crisp (Elin)

Preheat oven to 350˚F.

Line an 11-inch baking dish with sliced apples. Sprinkle with lemon juice, cinnamon and ground cloves (to taste).

Combine:
¾ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup butter
1 cup of rolled oats
1 cup of brown sugar

Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Scatter the topping evenly over the fruit. Bake until the topping is golden brown, the juices are bubbling, and the apples are tender, about 45 minutes.

Serve warm with:
Cream or ice cream (we like vanilla or cinnamon)

Tia - Yay for bargains!

We are inside the 90 day mark for DS's birthday, but I am going to just sit back and keep checking the Great Wolf website. There are 2 different room categories that would work for us, and a couple others that would work in a pinch if the others are sold out so I am not going to jump the gun on booking.

OK, all you moms of little ones... my nephew has discovered the joys of Legos. My brother told me tonight that there are little Lego pieces all over their hardwood floors and they hurt like the devil when they step on them. ;)

Back in the day we had this round canvas play mat that the girls could put their Legos and Duplos on and when the playtime was over you could pull it all up into a sack with the drawstring that ran around the outside perimeter of the mat. Does anyone know if any company makes that kind of thing any more?

In all my days of nannying I have never seen or heard of such a thing, but it sounds really cool!

Hope everyone had a great Halloween! I love all the pictures of the kiddos. Too cute!

Glynis, glad to see you posting, and I'm very happy Peanut is doing so well. Again, I am so sorry about your mother.

We ended up having 10 families and over 40 people for the pre-party on Halloween. It was really fun. Here is the link to all our Halloween pictures and the ones from the Corn Maze/Pumpkin Farm the week before. Password is mickey.

Today was All Saints Day at church, so we got to light a candle in memory of my grandmother. It was a really sweet service with special songs, handbell choir, etc.

Hope everyone is doing well! :goodvibes

my neighbor has this happy sack thingy...but no idea what the shipping is

I definitely think you should go back to the doctor! You need to be well before Mousefest!

Peanut is doing great! I had an ultrasound on Wednesday to check his kidneys again for the Down's Syndrome marker. Both the doctor and the ultrasound doctor don't think there's much risk for Down's. The baby's kidney's are both dilated somewhat, which can be a Down's marker, but none of the other markers are showing up at all. They think it is more likely that he's having a problem with his kidneys eliminating. Once he's born, they'll monitor his kidney output and probably do an ultrasound on him as well. Our pediatrician has been alerted, and he'll check Peanut out thoroughly. My doctor said that it's quite common for little boy babies to have dilated kidneys during a pregnancy, but for it all to be ok when they are born, so I've decided not to worry until it's necessary.

Hi Glynis! :yay: I'm so glad to see you back, and I'm thrilled everything looks good with Peanut! If you might remember, both of my girls had a dilated kidney or two during pregnancy and pee like champs! ;) I can't believe how soon Peanut will be here! :teeth:

I am so sorry, Stephanie.
