There may not be any comprehensive studies about the HPV/HIV connection. It is also a "chicken or the egg" kind of thing. Do women with HPV get HIV because they are more likely to engage in risky behavior, or because the HPV causes cellular changes that act as a "conductor" for the HIV to enter the body more easily? I would venture to guess the researchers KNOW the vaccine is kind of a backwards protection against HIV but they can't talk about it because it isn't designed to prevent HIV infection, and it certainly wouldn't provide 100% protection. There probably isn't a good way to study how effective it would be in preventing it anyway, at least in humans. Besides that, people are funny about HIV. A LOT of people would opt NOT to get the vaccine if there was any mention of HIV. If they think it is a vaccine to prevent cancer then it is much more palatable. It will provide the same protection no matter how the drug companies present it. If it protects girls from HIV but nobody knows about it, it still protects them.

Oh the life of a teenage drama queen.So I got most of the story out of Cassidy as to why she is/was bummed. Took all of me not to giggle at it:
Seems that there are two boys..Dominick and Eli who are being "jerks". Eli is a bit easier to explain...seems Eli is "dating" one girl but flirting with 2 of Cassidy's best friends which wounds Cassidy deeply (don't ask me why). Now Dominick is a much different story. This is the boy Cassidy has been crushing on for over a year....well she is getting tired of him moan and groan to her about breaking up with his girlfriend earlier this summer. I guess her breaking point was Wednesday when he kept saying he would be the one feeling most awkward going to his ex'es for the potluck dinner on Saturday. Seems Cassidy and her girlfriends think she will be the one most awkward because she is going to the same place and she still is crushing on Dominick AND Kate (the ex) is "dating" somebody who, all in this little group believes, is actually wanting to be with Cassidy.
I told her to just dump the drama and let's go to the Drake Bell concert
I never was much of a teenager in that I didn't have the drama so I have no sympathy/empathy for Cassidy....and she doesn't like it when I talk logically

But I draw the line at some things....we don't/won't use a diva cup or anything but "real" femine products. I don't reuse water....every once in awhile bottles of water are my friend. crunchy, tree hugger are a couple of other nicknames that are used.
other than that I'm not much help because to some I am considered a granola....because we try and do, eat things naturally (because of allergies and my aversion to artificial sweeteners) and have always been earth aware. At one point you couldn't get me out of my Birkenstocks.
and for some a granola is defined by the fact that they home school......some of the most ungranola people I know have home schooled so I think that's a misconception.
