Good morning, DDA!! I am soooo far behind and no time to catch up today either. Can someone catch me up on the highlights?

The only things that I did catch:

and Elin, I am so sorry for what Kathrin went through this week. Sounds like a crazy business decision in regards to both Kathrin and the salesman. Who knows what that was about.

As for me, we've just be crazy here. I had between 1 and 5 extra kids every day this week. I started babysitting for the baby last Fri and it's going really well. Erin is in the process of changing from her babysitter to an Early Childhood Center across the street from her. So, I'll probably watch Kaylin more between now and Nov 3. Plus, Kristi has her big exit exam for her Master's in counseling on the 27th plus even more clients for her internship, which adds her kids some more. I'm supposed to be thinking of a place I want a gift card from as she wants to buy me one as a thank you. Since we don't have a Disney Store around anymore, I'm trying to decide what I want. I'm thinking some restaurant because that's one thing I like to do, but don't get to very often. I just can't decide though.

Otherwise, we're good. Terra and I took a parent-child cooking class last night and she had so much fun. She loved the title Spooky Treats for Every BODY. Each dish had a body part in the name chicken fingers, blood orange dipping sauce, Lady Finger cake, etc. Now she just can't wait for the next one. I think she and Kassie are going to do a kids only together. Today is swim lessons and then I'm taking her and Kristi's 3 to a Kids Safety Festival with free food, free pumpkins for the kids and a bounce house. Then we're going to McDonald's for customer appreciation day for discounted food, face painting and seeing Grimace. Tomorrow the whole family, sans my husband I'm sure , is going to the pumpkin patch. It's usually a lot of fun and we've found a new place this year that doesn't charge admission for all of the kids playing stuff, so that's good too. Lots of our farms lost many pumpkins in the flooding after Ike so hopefully there will be plenty to choose from.

I'm still working on getting to a trip report. Pictures are finally all loaded, etc. Just have to find time to sit down at the computer more.

Speaking of which - Jennifer or Chanon, are you having a lot of problems with PhotoPass? I've tried a few times lately and can't get on at all.

Great! Emma is thrilled by everything she does. We saw a play last night, The Mummy's Claw, it was hilarious. Then we came back and hung out for a bit before we went to bed. Joe is just now waking up. We are going to cook breakfast and then we'll meet up with everyone later.

Hi DDA! Things have been hectic here, and now they've calmed down and we're all healthy, but now we're enjoying our time at home with Kyle while he's on vacation! :

That said, I'm so behind!! I've tried to skim the last few days, but I know I'm just lost. Please let me know if I've missed anything terribly urgent. I did see that Lindsay checked in via Elizabeth, which makes me relieved. I had PMd her a couple of times and not heard back, which - as many of you have pointed out - is unlike her. I was getting worried!

Elin, I'm so sorry to hear about Kathrin's job. I hope she finds something as good or better, quickly! I hope you and Tammi have fun tonight! (I'm sure you will!)

Deb and family, have a wonderful cruise! You'll be addicted!

(Speaking of which, we booked the Westbound repo for 2010! I can't believe how far away that is, but we're excited!)

We are back from the race. In addition to being early, 5K is FAR. And no, we didn't register for the 5K, but that's what we did.

The 1 mile kicked off at 7:30 AM, but we got confused on where the Start line was supposed to be. Onsite registration was actually INSIDE the mall, and that was the only place to get the pink tags to go on the back of the shirts for "In Celebration Of". By hte time we found the table with the pink tags, found a pen that actually worked, and pinned them on, we missed the 1 mile start. Oops.

So we looked around at the tents and stuff, and DH decided he was ready to go home. So we gave him our goody bags and sent him home. DS and I decided to do the 5K. It was far. It is also really hard to set a decent pace when there are SO MANY PEOPLE. There was a guy in his car at one of the blocked intersections fussing at an officer because he couldn't get through. Duh. The signs have been up for a MONTH saying the roads would be closed. The officer told the guy there were *40,000* people walking! Dogs, strollers, little kids, people stopping to take pics, you know the drill. So we averaged 1 mile every 23 minutes. And they only had ONE water station. The AIDS walk has a water station every kilometer, so that sort of shocked me!

My camera batteries are dead so I didn't get a single picture. We found the other 2 batteries after I got home, also dead. What we can NOT find is the charger for the damn batteries so I don't know if I will have pics from our activities later today or not. I dumped out my bag of WDW stuff and the charger isn't in there, so I don't know what I did with it. DS has run through every single "normal" battery in the house, so now I have NONE.

The week before that this year is the last weekend of F&WF so we could go the beginning of November and still make the F&WF. Does that work for you guys?

I used to always go in October and always really loved the F&WF. Last year I went the Thursday before Veteran's Day to the Tuesday after. The Thursday was great but Fri/Sat at F&WF were SOOOOOOOOOOO crowded it was almost scary. For me after Veteran's Day would work best as that is when the budget is completed. It is really hard not to try an book a trip with that $49/35% merchandise AP deal. I even found air for just $229 but I really can't convince myself it is the right thing to do when I'm going in Jan AND I really want that dSLR and I don't want the less expensive one of course.......

Bernadette & Stephanie - I hope your budgets get sorted out soon!

Thanks! I got over $2,000,000. in expense cuts all entered Friday. Thankfully all cuts were without layoffs! Now I've got to work on the 2008 forecast and reports for Tuesday's meeting. I am feeling lousy. I finally have the cold that everyone else in the house has. I should probably go into the office for a few hours tomorrow as I know I won't be moving too fast on Monday.

Today, along with some of the sales staff and one of the graphics designers they let her go. She is taking it much better than I am, that is for sure.

You all know how Tammi and I go on and on about the local downtown wine bar that has undergone so much renovation. I have this urge to crawl back into bed and pull the covers up today. I just got email from the son of my former piano professor and dear friend. She died last night, just shy of her 94th birhday.

I am so sorry.

me too...her cross to bear is a heavy one. Her husband suffered a stroke....and while there are no outward physical signs. the stroke damaged the part of the brain that controls language, reason, personality etc. He is no longer able to work....virtually never speaks, has major bowel & bladder issues etc....and it will never get better. I feel bad that she will never have any so called "golden years" with this man

How sad. I hope she finds something that works well for her soon!

DS LOVES to make stop-motion films with his toys, so I think he would LOVE a camcorder for Christmas. But it needs to be one that records to DVD so we can load the films to the computer and post them on YouTube or whatever. Right now he is using our old camcorder that records to tapes, then the tapes go into an adapter to play in the VCR.

My SIL has a Flip Video-about $100. It really pretty good. She lets Joe borrow it and he & Lizzy make all sorts of movies together. Lizzy is the star and Joe is the camera man. They have so much fun with it that that is what she is getting Joe for Christmas. It attaches to a PC with a USB.

Does the company have an HR department that she can deal with?

Sorry....but I have never found an HR dept to be anything but totally useless.

Chuck's dad passed away this morning. Chuck headed over there shortly after we found out. He will help keep the peace between his brother & sister. Chuck's mom sounded like she was doing fine. Becky is on her way up (she was already coming with her boyfriend for the week-end so that she could introduce him to Grandma & Grandpa). Katrina and I are staying here until she gets here. We'll head over tomorrow.

I am sad but we were more or less expecting this. A year ago, he had a heart attack. He decided not to have the open heart surgery and was told that it would probably be 6 months and he'd be back with another worse one. He was ready to go. He did not want to be a burden on anyone. He was still driving but had really slowed down. He got to do it his way. He has been wasting away a lot the last couple of weeks.

I'm waiting for a call from Chuck to see what is happening with the funeral arrangements.

I'm so sorry for you, Chuck, his Mom and your girls.

The car is packed and the kids are bathed. We just have the last minute items to put in our carryons and we're good to go I hope that we haven't forgotten anything major. We'll have a couple of days to hit a store if need be before the cruise. The house is almost cleaned. I haven't hit the bathroom, but they'll just have to wait as I'm not in the mood for it. I did change all the beds though

I just got off the phone with Lindsay! She has just been swamped at work. Her assistant quit, so she has been doing the work of two people. She also got saddled with budget reviews for ALL of their recruiting departments nationwide. Bernadette & Stephanie, she feels your pain!

I'm sorry she's so swamped. I'm sure budgets are even more fun when you're not a finance person. At least I chose this line of work.

She loves to cook and has loved to help probably since she was 2. I get in trouble if I start making cookies or something without telling her in advance so that she can come help. When she found out some of the area grocery stores offered a cooking school she was so excited. We really had a lot of fun. I love to cook and especially bake so I'm glad she does too.
