Warning, Shameless plug ahead........

I have sent emails to those of you whose address I had, so I'm sorry for duplicating here. If you have a minute and wouldn't mind, I have a photo (of my humongo belly) up on a "Best Baby Bumps" contest, that could be worth $2500! I'm pretty sure it doesn't stand a chance after looking at some of the entries, but extra recommendations can't hurt, right?

You have been invited to view my Pregnant Belly Photo Contest
photo gallery on Parents.com. Please use the link below to view, rate, and
recommend my photos!

Hi all! This photo was entered into a "Best Baby Bumps" contest,
where the winner gets $2500! I don't know that it stands a chance against
some of the professional shots, but it's worth a try. If you have a minute,
as often as you have a minute, please follow the link to recommend my photo.
There is a link above the photo at the website, that says "recommend".
Feel free to pass this along to anyone you know.... the more recommendations
the better, I think! :)

It's the one I posted here, at about 36 weeks.

Chanon - I hope you get a double dip!

Thanks to everyone for your support! I'm not sure I would have had the nerve to call without you all telling me that I was in the right. I also e-mailed my parents this morning, and my mother (who has the highest sense of responsibility and moral character of anyone I know) agreed with all of you that I am being taken advantage of. So, I just called. The response I received, "Oh, ok, I guess we'll just take it from here." She just has no "people skills" at all.

I am a little sad, though, because this is a program that another woman and I created back at a different preschool 8 years ago. We have refined and improved it year by year. It is now in three different preschools, but I am no longer a part of any of those. I feel a little like they have taken away my "baby" and given it to someone else. But it really isn't worth the stress.

Also, someone told me today that the school system has a sub list for "support staff" positions like classroom aides, clerical workers, etc. I think I may go put myself on that list. It would give me a feel for different types of jobs. I could take jobs around my schedule, and I'd have my face out there in case they were hiring permanently for one of those positions.

Glynis,   I am so sorry to read about your mother. I will keep her and your family in my prayers.

Deb, the cruise sounds great! I can't wait to hear all about it. Sometimes a spur of the moment trip is even better than one that you have planned and planned.

Jennifer, I love the new photos in your signature!

I have to go back and read some more to see what else I've missed.

Thanks again for all of your support. You really can't know how much it helped me. And I'm trying to remember that when one door shuts another opens so that I can keep my eyes open to find that new door.

Beth-I am so proud of you!! I was going to suggest you get on the sub para-pro list. I am so sorry that they have taken your "baby" away from you. But, from the sounds of it, this program that you just left will not be around much longer.

When I left my last preschool teaching job I told them that if they didn't get assistant teachers in they would have a higher turnover rate than they already did (up until then they had a different parent each day of the week acting as the assistant). They now do that...they still have a fairly high turnover rate but it is more along the natural one for the positions not almost 100% per year.

Atta girl. I bet you feel better now

:crossing fingers:

Thanks Tia. The memorial service I am attending this weekend is for my uncle that passed away back in August. Since he lived in Wisconsin but spent most of his adult life in Massachusetts my cousins are holding another service there. :goodvibes

I've signed up for Webshots because I can download their program to my desktop and upload photos right to the site. I believe there is an RSS feed or linked to Facebook if anyone wants it.

http://community.webshots.com/user/chanonandbob?vhost=community

I'm not sure if that site link will work (there are no photos in it yet) but that way you guys have the site to reference.

...and I didn't answer Tammi's questions! I'm ready for everything to be done with. Well, I should say I'm ready for Friday to be here so I can start relaxing. I got mom to come up tonight instead of last night, but she's getting her nails done and won't want to do much around the house. (Makes no sense...you offered to help around the house and your getting your nails done now?!) I think I got Bob convinced to go get a manicure with me...not sure about the pedicure or not. ;)

It is getting so close now! Best wishes for a perfect day!

Tia-I am so, so glad your trip was all you were wishing for (except for, of course, the fall):lovestruc

Ditto!

I am freezing. :cold: I hate that we didn't have a summer.

Ditto!

Yeah, I am not jealous at all

Seriously, Elizabeth, they are gonna saunter around.

You will be so proud of Stephanie and I for our December trip. I have charts for our Cabin Door display. We have a spread sheet for every day and every hour that we will be on that trip. Mouse Fest has something going on every day that we want to attend.!!!!!

I have a complete wardrobe for Chuckie. We just need to come up with a few t-shirt designs and we are set.

66 days to go!!!!!

How exciting!

Marci - I hope the chairs work out!
I haven't talked with Mom since Saturday. Diva e-mailed me Sunday night and said the neighbors were a little bit better. I have not heard from the property manager.
Diva is just SURE they are going to move when their lease is up, but the fact of the matter is that Mom will barely be finished with radiation AND her finances will be worse than they are now because her "year" starts over tomorrow for her health insurance. (For whatever reason her deductibles don't run Jan - Dec.)
I can not imagine that Mom will feel like moving since she HATES to move, and I can not imagine where they would go that would be any better! Mom refuses to live anywhere with stairs even though I think an upper floor would be safer and quieter, she can't afford any of the duplexes or houses for rent, she won't qualify to buy anything (and couldn't afford anything in a good neighborhood anyway). Since Mom apparently believes that Diva shouldn't have to pay a cent for anything until she has graduated from a 4-year college I think they are staying right where they are.
Perhaps I should point out to Diva that they could live somewhere MUCH nicer if Mom wasn't paying for that car AND car insurance. DH and I ballparked Mom's monthly costs at over $500 for that stupid car. :sad2:

Ad now totally off topic, have you guys seen that doll that grows TEETH? OMG! :scared1: That is SCARY! :scared: EEEEK! The commercial was just on. I am officially freaked out! I HATE dolls with teeth!

I hope that your mother is doing well, Elizabeth. And, yes, that doll is definitely freaky!

Ours is officially off for "fall recess" but its today..and again we have "fall recess" on October 9

No districts in our area are off today, but the cross country meet was held yesterday instead of today. I know that many of the SUNY schools (NYS state colleges) are usually off for the major Jewish holidays, though I don't know if they are this year. The City of Buffalo schools used to have the days off, but my suburban district never did. I think that NYS mandates no testing on these days.

Sorry, one of the downfalls of being a one computer family...Abi needed the computer for homework last night. The pictures have been downloaded to the computer though!!

Darn homework!

I started packing. I think I can get away with 3 of our biggest Mickey suitcases, which really aren't that huge and one of the smaller ones. We'll probably have a couple of carry ons. I think my mother will just have one of the larger suitcases. My concern is fitting it in a car. We are trying to avoid renting an SUV or minivan as the prices are triple that of a full size :headache: We'll have to see how much luggage we end up with and decide from there. I figure if we it will all fit in the truck of my camry then we should be ok.

Atta girl. I bet you feel better now

Thanks! I little cry over my "loss" and a hot cup of tea, and I am feeling better. I still teach the 3-year old class two days a week, so I hope that things aren't too awkward. I won't leave that class before the end of the school year, because I love the kids and it wouldn't be fair to them.

Beth, I have been here on more than one occasion, one quite recently! ;) As hard as it feels now, I hope that you will feel such freedom after taking this step that you'll just cherish what you did while it was yours, and know you did the right thing for YOUR family - which is infinitely more important. Good for you!

Someone sent me an email about this Free Night of Theater coming up. Looks like it's a national thing so here's the info in case anyone is interested. I think Terra and I are going to go see Hansel and Gretel here.

http://www.freenightoftheater.net/index.cfm

For NYS, there is one in Rochester and ten in the Buffalo area, so I guess nothing close enough for us. Thanks for the link, though! That looks like a neat idea.

Thank you! I do remember that. I'm going to have some more letting go to do in the semi-near future of my real "baby," so I guess it's good practice.

I guess I should go celebrate my freedom by cleaning the bathroom. No, it's not really a "celebration" but it does need to be done desperately!

Beth - It's natural that you feel a let down. I hope you do feel some relief too. Good luck getting on the sub list!

Thanks to everyone for your support! I'm not sure I would have had the nerve to call without you all telling me that I was in the right....

Sounds like you did the right thing, Beth. I would definitely go for the sub thing. It sounds perfect. Good luck!!!

Chanon - :wizard: that the rumors are true!

Terri - I can't even imagine your spreadsheets for Dec! It will be so much fun though.

checking in.....we head home tomorrow....we are ready.

overall we had a great time...a couple of bumps in the road (6 hour ER visit for me)

we briefly ran into Elin & Bob...they look like they are having a great time....doesn't look like we will be able to swing a get together...

hope everyone is well!!!
