DDA Chapter 12

Growing up is good, and I love to see the young adults that they are becoming. That doesn't mean I don't sometimes miss those days when they were always right here beside me. You just need to re-learn mothering a little bit, I guess.

What a wonderful way of saying this!!:goodvibes

So we watched Nancy Drew tonight. It was my first Red Box purchase. I can see myself using that a lot. The kids liked it.

Alyssa had a cold. She has been getting up in the middle of the night complaining about her throat hurting. Today it really developed into a full blown cold. Stuffy nose, watery eyes, sneezing. I gave her some sudafed and rubbed some Vicks on her. I hope she can kick before Monday rolls around.

Tomorrow is Nicholas' first football game. The team will all gather at a local shopping center and then caravan the 45 minute drive to the school he will play at. He is excited yet nervous.

Sorry Alyssa has the cold...it should last about 24-48 hours if it's like the girls.

Good luck to Nicholas!!

Nothing I can say or do is going to make it any easier for you so  .

I was thinking the same thing Tammi....the best thing we can offer is our shoulders and ears to listen to you Elizabeth. Remember that we love you!!

Karen stay safe & :wizard: that you do not lose power!

Chanon I hope your hand feels better soon :wizard:

Tammi hope Alyssa feels better soon & good luck to Nicholas tomorrow! Riley was a muddy, wet mess after practice today

Elizabeth I am glad you talked to your mother & I do hope that diva girl is finally realizing the seriousness of your mom's health.

Hi, DDA,

I'm sorry to jump in and jump out so much, but I'd like to ask for some prayers and PD from the DDA. Please, please be praying for the greater Houston area with Hurricane Ike imminent. Fortunately, my parents and brother evacuated and made it to our house late last night, but Jonathan's parents (who are in an area like my parents that was under a mandatory evacuation) are going to ride out the storm at home. Jonathan's brothers, their wives, and children are also going to ride out the storm, although they're further inland and won't bear the brunt of the storm surge. The area Jonathan and I are from, though, and where our parents still reside, is only 20 miles from Galveston, and very close to the Bay that will fuel all the storm surges.

If I could ask for prayers and PD to fly my families and friends' direction, I would be most appreciative. I will check in this weekend, and let you know how they fared. It's going to be a long night....

On another note, Jonathan and I are well, had a great cruise (go figure, with hurricanes all around us), and had a wonderful time at the first MNSSHP last Friday. I'm back to getting my hiney kicked at work, and probably won't see another light at the end of the tunnel until early October. I miss everyone, and will look forward to the day I can get on here daily once again.

Thank you, so very much, in advance for any prayers and support. I hope everyone else is staying healthy and dry!

Lindsay

Lindsay, :grouphug:

I am so glad you had a great cruise.

We went out to supper to TGIFridays using some gc's from my points tonight. That was some yummy food!!

Elizabeth-DivaGirl came up in the conversation...I hope you don't mind me using her as an example to try and tell Cassidy how selfish she's been the last couple of weeks (don't worry I used generalizations and she got it right away just from the nickname)

I think I am heading to bed...I will do some revisions in the morning to the story and then it's going to be emailed so that it's there waiting for them on Monday morning.

She asked me if I am under a lot of stress. I said "Well, my mom has breast cancer, you know." :rolleyes1
YES, I am under stress. I worry about her ALL the time. She doesn't seem to be fully aware of how stressful it is for me.

Elizabeth I know this is very hard on you, I wish there was something I could say or do to make you feel better. I am here for you though

okay headed to bed. Will see if we get any wind or rain here from Ike. Karen, Marci, Elizabeth and Lindsey stay safe.

I am all about teachable moments! :rotfl2: Feel free to tell Cassidy whatever.
I like your CO story. I read it when you first posted it, I just don't have enough functioning brain cells to offer any revision suggestions! I hope you get a call back from them soon! :wizard:

Everyone - Thanks for all of your hugs, support, and patience! :goodvibes

I got a LONG e-mail back from Diva. She said Mom is better now, so apparently Mom just didn't feel well yesterday or last night. She wrote all about school, the boy she likes, how she has been looking for a job but not getting any interviews. I think she is just kind of lonely.

I can't sleep. I am waiting for DVC Member Services to open. :rolleyes1

What are you booking now? You've got a long wait.

I can't help but feel a little sorry for Diva. This might be your opening to salvage your 'sisterhood'. :wizard:

I hope you are able to get it all worked out, Elizabeth! How is your weather so far? It looks horrible in your lovely state this morning.

I am glad you and DivaGirl are communicating about this. I agree that she is probably lonely. Hopefully she will find a job. I know it is tough in our area. Lots of Kristin's friends who graduated from college in the spring are still without jobs or are working part-time jobs that people like DivaGirl could possibly get in better economic times.

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

Stay safe, Texas sisters. :grouphug:

Mom asked me if I went to get my Depo shot. I had already forgotten that I forgot my original appointment. I told her I did go, after nearly forgetting to go pick up the med from the pharmacy. I swear, my brain...
So then I told her about the woman hitting my car, and me overdrawing the checking account and all that crap. She asked me if I am under a lot of stress. I said "Well, my mom has breast cancer, you know." :rolleyes1
YES, I am under stress. I worry about her ALL the time. She doesn't seem to be fully aware of how stressful it is for me.
She likes to flit along like it's not really a big deal. She actually said she thinks it would have been easier to leave the cancer where it was!:scared1: Easier for HER, maybe. :sad2:

That's the decision my aunt made. By the time any of the rest of us found out, it was too late. I still have scars from that, but I have found a way to reconcile with it.

Please let Diva in if she is making the effort.

I am sorry that you have to go through all of this.

Good morning....

Elizabeth- I am glad that Diva emailed you back and seems to be talking more. :wizard: and 's

Tammi- :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Have a great game Nicholas!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: I hope Alyssa feels better. :wizard: We love Red Box here too.

Elin- Your evening sounds fabulous!

I hope everyone in Texas stays safe today. :wizard:

We were to go peach/apple picking at a farm with Dana and her girls this morning but the weather is looking questionable so I think we're gonna hold off. Tonight though is my Aunt's Dessert Party. Her and my mom have been baking for the past 2 days making over 50 desserts. And I know my aunt had already made some cakes and other things and put them in the freezer so I'm sure it's closer to 60. Crazy I tell you!

I just realized that I am under 2 weeks for our September trip and in double digits for our December trip!
