Thanks! I'm sure that he will be fine, too, but it's still a little nerve wracking. A few more times, and it will be old hat, right? I still can't believe that he is going to be away at college this time next year.
Where has he decided to go?

Where has he decided to go?

He hasn't fully decided yet. He is looking at all SUNY schools at the moment. We have an excellent one right here in town. In fact, it was my cousin's second choice school after Stanford (she got into Stanford). He is thinking strongly of SUNY-ESF in Syracuse or University of Buffalo. Chances are good that he won't be home next year. Actually, even if he picks Binghamton University, I think I want him to live on campus the at least the first year.

Uh ... NO! I still worry EVERY time I know my girls are on the road for any distance. My mother still worries about me when she knows I'm travelling.

I've been reading a TR by someone who took a summer trip out West very similar to ours. It makes me want to write TRs for that trip and our Disney trip so that we have them. I'm sure that the memories are already fading. Maybe I'll put that on Monday's to-do list to at least get a start.

I kind of figured that, but I was trying to convince myself. I still need to call my mother whenever I get home from their house. I also needed to make sure we checked in a couple of times while we were on our trip this summer.

Hmm. Mom says she feels fine, she worked all of her scheduled shifts this week, no problems. :confused3 I don't know what the deal is.
She got her box today. She said to thank Tammi & Marci for the cards. :) I told her I am worried about her financial situation, I am worried about the Taxol, I am flat out worried because she has cancer. She says she is fine, I shouldn't worry about her. :headache:

Diva wasn't home. She hasn't e-mailed me again, but maybe I will hear from her later. Who knows. I would like to know precisely WHEN Mom wasn't feeling well and exactly what that consisted of.

I hope she really is fine.:wizard: and 's

Stay safe, Karen! Lots of good thoughts for your friend! :wizard:

Ditto!!

I need to go back and finish up ours from January.

Hi, DDA,

I'm sorry to jump in and jump out so much, but I'd like to ask for some prayers and PD from the DDA. Please, please be praying for the greater Houston area with Hurricane Ike imminent. Fortunately, my parents and brother evacuated and made it to our house late last night, but Jonathan's parents (who are in an area like my parents that was under a mandatory evacuation) are going to ride out the storm at home. Jonathan's brothers, their wives, and children are also going to ride out the storm, although they're further inland and won't bear the brunt of the storm surge. The area Jonathan and I are from, though, and where our parents still reside, is only 20 miles from Galveston, and very close to the Bay that will fuel all the storm surges.

If I could ask for prayers and PD to fly my families and friends' direction, I would be most appreciative. I will check in this weekend, and let you know how they fared. It's going to be a long night....

On another note, Jonathan and I are well, had a great cruise (go figure, with hurricanes all around us), and had a wonderful time at the first MNSSHP last Friday. I'm back to getting my hiney kicked at work, and probably won't see another light at the end of the tunnel until early October. I miss everyone, and will look forward to the day I can get on here daily once again.

Thank you, so very much, in advance for any prayers and support. I hope everyone else is staying healthy and dry!

Lindsay
Oh Lindsay, I am so sorry to hear this. I wish they would have heeded the advice and evacuated. Don't be surprised if you don't hear from them for several days. You and everyone are in my prayers. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: Lots of PD coming your way!

Ouch, ouch, ouch.

So I really screwed up tonight. Making spagetti and was checking the noodles - the spoon jumped out of the pan splashing water all over the top of my left hand. I don't think I've ever hurt this bad before from a burn before.

So we have a milestone of sorts here tonight. Matthew has taken the car for the first time by himself. Well, Laura is with him...but no "adult" driver. The cross country team has pasta dinner nights, and he drove them over tonight. It is about 20 minutes from here at his girlfriend's house (so he knows the route pretty well). Laura texted me that they arrived safely. I asked her to text me when they leave so I know when to start worrying and praying. Overall, I'm not too nervous...
Oh my. I don't envy what you have in your future. :guilty:

Well good luck with his choices!

Thanks! I am trying to convince him to pick a private school or two and just see what kind of package he could get. He said that he'll go SUNY for undergrad. I never know quite how much to push or how much to do for them. I think that it's a huge decision for a 17 year old, but it should be primarily his decision.

Maybe Diva is just finally allowing herself to realize how serious this is?

No telling. She said other things in her e-mail. Told me a little about her classes, that she is learning about different things in anatomy...
Beth, maybe that's it! Maybe the stuff she is learning in anatomy is forcing her into a new understanding of Mom's condition. That's my Shazam! moment of the day.
She also said she thinks I would like her Humanities teacher.
Maybe Mom went to bed early and Diva was afraid mom felt sick. Perhaps Diva was just feeling a little sad and alone and decided to e-mail. Not sure.

Oh my. I don't envy what you have in your future. :guilty:

Growing up is good, and I love to see the young adults that they are becoming. That doesn't mean I don't sometimes miss those days when they were always right here beside me. You just need to re-learn mothering a little bit, I guess.
