Ugh tom so sorry to hear about the lice--our school nurse has been going around checking heads the last couple of weeks. She said she checks at the beginning of school and after long school breaks

Happy Belated Birthday Deb. I see that I missed it yesterday. I got home at 11pm last night. I hope that it was an awesome one.

Guess what I found this morning as I was brushing Leighanna's hair for school this morning? The dreaded lice. Ugh!
Today is picture day at school.
Needless to say Leighanna will miss it.
We called the school. Apparently they are not allowed to inform parents if a child has been infected.:confused3 They only hinted that Leighanna should ALWAYS wear her hair up. Apparently there is a child in her class that has them and is continuing to go to school untreated.:sad2:
Off to spend the next 5 hours trying to get this out!
I have to bag all her stuffies for two weeks and wash all the bedding in hot water. I have a feeling this is going to be a long day!

 :scared1:

Thanks Jennifer and Tia.

Since Leighanna crawled into bed with us last night, we are all in for treatments today.:scared:
I don't know whether to cry or be mad!
The school secretary said that they are not allowed to inform us. I really wish they would!
And yes, she is in public school.

Our kids are checked regularly. They did it the very first week of school. A note comes home if any lice are found. No names are mentioned, but the kids usually know anyway  :scared1:

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO DEB & STEPHANIE

Thank you
Nope, no boxes from the DDA...though Bob's parents did send us a box... :teeth: I'll post a picture of that later today for you guys.

The last box was Tammi's. She sent a cute scarecrow soap hand pump and towels embrodered with pumpkins.

Staying at Universal is the best way to go! Rooms are expensive, but so is FOTL access - and it's great to be able to walk to both parks. Try to go during the week and prices seem to be cheaper on the rooms.

We will most likely do Universal on the first weekend that we are there as Disney rooms are more expensive (points or othewise) on the weekends anyway. :confused3

okay so I have seen pictures of BBB and it looks like they put glitter in the girls hair Tammi and Deb is this correct?

I saw at walmart they have glitter hairspray in the Halloween department. Trying to decide if I should get this and if I should get gold or silver.

Yep, it is a mix of colors, but it has more of a silver effect than gold.

So, I packed up all my courage and actually went to my physical yesterday. I need a little more of that DDA pixiedust, because I think I'm about to waste more of my time and money (but I want it to only be a waste of time and money). The doctor said that he heard a heart murmur when I was lying down. I swear he has heard that same one before (and only in that position), but he doesn't have record of it. "In a majority of cases, this is an innocent murmur, but we need to check it out." So, I need to go have an echocardiogram. Dh thinks that we will have less to pay on this one, since the CT scan used up our deductible, but we'll still owe 20%. I have no idea how much that is going to be! :scared1: So, should I cancel or go? I also scheduled a mammogram for the same day, because I am way overdue on that. See, going to the doctor just leads to all kinds of trouble. I also have high blood pressure (several readings of 140-144/80-90) and have a prescription for that. Plus, I need to lose weight and exercise (but I already knew that). Everything looked "normal" on my exams, but it will be several days to get the results of the PAP.

Since you have already put at least a huge dent in your deductible you might as well get it all done this year. Consider hitting the Dermatologist for a skin check up too. Anything that you normally wouldn't have gotten done you might as well do now because as soon as the new deductible comes up you'll think of something you should have done.

Okay, I got curious and looked it up!!:scared1: How would you like to be the nurse who gets to diagnose that??

:scared:

I forgot to tell you the bright spot in my week...somewhere along the way from the last time I weighed myself I've lost 25+ lbs:goodvibes If anybody finds them DO NOT send them home:lmao:

Isn't amazing what stress will do. Congrats...I think  The weight loss is great, the method of losing it really stinks.

Note to self: DON'T GOOGLE PIN WORM!

I just don't want to know!:scared1:

Yeah, you really don't want to know. I wish I hadn't looked. Now I'm itchy in places that shouldn't itch :sad2:

Something is thumping outside and it is annoying the bejeezus out of me! :headache: It is kind of like hammering, but not quite. Kind of like a basketball bouncing, but not quite. Kind of like someone chopping wood, but not quite. Maybe someone pounding fence posts into the ground? Whatever it is I wish they would STOP THUMPING!

Headboard against a wall? :confused3 ;)

Happy Belated Birthday Deb. I see that I missed it yesterday. I got home at 11pm last night. I hope that it was an awesome one.

It was busy to say the least. I had lots of wonderful birthday wishes too

We hit the car show today and Chris is very happy. It was a bright and sunny day though pretty cool. I wore a sweater all day even though the sun was beating down on us. Fall is certainly here.

Strange story. My cell rings while we are at the show. My Mom says that she has someone with her that needs to talk to me. Turns out that it was my cousin, the one that cuts our hair. She just found out that she is 12 weeks pregnant  Their youngest is 6 1/2 years old and they required fertility drugs to conceive both of their children. This time no drugs and they were using protection. They are not in a good place financially, but they have come to terms with it and are happy now. They did have genetic screenings done and all looks good. They had just given away all of their baby stuff in May as her Mom was cleaning out her basement. They believe that God has a plan or this would not have happened. Lots of us have offered up whatever we have left for baby items so hopefully they can get by on what friends and family can provide. Thankfully she is only 31 so things shouldn't be too bad. Both of their first 2 were at least a month early so their are risks, but she is at a healthier weight now (she used to weigh nothing) so maybe things will be easier :confused3 Knowing how much they already struggle to make ends meet has me concerned, but I am hopeful for them and wish them the best.

O.K. Now that bit of drama is over. Not another 5 hours that I want to relive. It took both of us off and on about 4 hours to comb through Leighanna's hair. We used a magnifying glass to check each strand. We only found about 9 or 10 nits, behind Leighanna's ear and nape of her neck.
We feel pretty confident that we got it all out. We were very thorough.
I think we stripped the color right out. She is looking very platinum blonde about now. Her poor scalp is red from all the pulling.

No offense. But I think I would rather have a prostate exam or a colonoscopy than do that again.

I can't imagine. My girls have very thin hair and had it just a little longer than shoulder length when they got it. I couldn't believe the work involved. Luckily, we were living in a motel at the time so cleaning the "stuff" was so much easier. We think they probably got it from the hide-a-bed couch they slept on in the motel though.

It was our first year in Iron Mountain. Years later, my best friend was telling me about her lice checking duties from years earlier (we weren't friends when my girls had it) and how two sisters new to the school were the only ones found with lice. It turns out it was my two girls and she didn't know it but she knew the story. My poor girls.

We had just moved and we lived in a motel while our house was being built. They each only had one small box of toys each that were stored under the inn tables next to their hide-a-bed. It was a one-bedroom suite. They each had one under-the-bed container of clothes that was stored under our bed. The motel staff cleaned all the bedding and brought us fresh and I treated the carpets. I can't imagine what it would have been like if we had still been in our 4 bedroom, two-story huge farm house with all their toys. They were 5 & 8 at the time.

In Michigan, I think they are supposed to report it to the parents if a child has it. Not which child but that there is a child with it. And we are not allowed to return to school until there are no more nits. The school nurse checks to verify that there aren't any!

I'm so happy for you losing the weight. Sorry that the stress is probably what caused it. But then again, stress causes some of us to GAIN weight so I guess you can be thankful that you lost.

I found them.:headache: :sad2:  I want to get rid of them, but do not want to give them back to you.;)

My shin hurts in the leg of the foot I hurt. It is really annoying.

I am really thinking about going to UCF for homecoming. It would be the first weekend in November. Airfare is currently $79 each way. It would be my first time going to Homecoming.

Tom- I hope the lice do not cause anymore problems.

We spent the evening at the Oktoberfest at the local Army base. My mom and Eric's father went along with us. Eric's mom went to work tonight and my dad's bedtime is 7pm! The girls had a lot of fun dancing to the band. Lucy loved toddling all over the dance floor trying to get all the balloons. There was a cooking demo by this chef He was hilarious and shared a shot of the liquor he was cooking with with all in attendance! He told me that I should give Lucy a shot as she was getting rather restless and pretty vocal!! A good night out.

Sounds like it was a fun evening, Robyn!

Becky - I think you should go to Homecoming!

I ahd a great evening out with some friends and now i am sitting home, working, and watching pearl harbor. I am going to get my hair done tomorrow and am looking forward to being "pampered" a bit!

Hi everyone. Here's a great big :grouphug: and :wizard: to all those who are struggling with various issues. My parents arrived today so I won't be around much the next few days. Just know that I am thinking of you all.

Wow! Sounds like our situation! It's amazing what being the "right" weight can do for you! For me, it was losing all the weight that helped me, and it sounds like for her it was gaining a bit of weight. The human body is amazing!

Best wishes for them!

I think that's wonderful! The timing may not seem the best, but I agree that there's a plan for this baby, especially considering the circumstances! Good luck to them! :goodvibes

You should go! I know you loved going there, and we don't ever miss a homecoming! Go while the airfare is good! :thumbsup2
