DDA Chapter 11

I thought Peter #3 was already out. Wasn't that the Secrets of Rundoon?

I've ordered Kingdom Keeper, but still have to order the J.K. Rowling one. Thanks for the reminder!!!

No, #2 was Secret of Rundoon. #3 is Blood Tide.

The Secrets of Rundoon was the third book in the Starcatcher series. The one that just came out, Blood Tide is part of the Neverland series. They are easier books. I am not sure why they chose to basically give them the same name.

Remember that she is a Communications major, and that she has pageant experience. I fully expect her to be articulate and engaging as a speaker because she has had so much training. She also had her speech ahead of time and had practiced it.

DS had homework from 5 different teachers tonight. He is still working on it. The thing is, DH said DS chose to read for about 45 minutes before he completed his other tasks, so I can't really say that the teacher exceeded the 90 minute max. Ugh.

Ahhhhh I'm a communications major and twirled in pageants for 15 years, and am a terrible speaker! Maybe that's why I switched my major from broadcast! ;)

Not picking sides on the election but speaking from working for a company that works on public speaking skills, the two presidential candidates have had the gist of their speeches for a very long time and have been practicing them as well. It's the VP nominees that have been thrown in to the fire.

That is never a problem with my kids -- reading is such a struggle that it isn't something they do in their free time, unfortunately. Now TV -- I have to watch them or they would watch it instead of their homework. :rotfl:

And right now, I can't get him to stop dancing around the room to my 80s fav "Celebration" and get in the shower!

I hope you are feeling better tomorrow!

Karen -- the pictures of Watkins are great. Sending PD for the test.

Jen -- I'm so proud of you. The pics of your class are great.

Glynis -- congrats on your doctor visit. That is terrific news.

Deb -- great job on the costume, as usual.

I best get back to a project I'm working on. Take care everyone! :)

I just have to say thanks for all the comments on my pictures and on my first days of teaching--i appreciate it!

Can you PM me the pictures of your room?

I am glad things are going well.

I think you should have set it for the 5th so he shared Walt's day!

Oh, I didn't even think of that. Wouldn't have worked anyway. She doesn't do scheduled surgeries on Fridays. Bummer, huh? But then I probably would have wanted to name him Walt.

Marci - Apparently DS just got interested in his book and ended up reading longer than he normally would. Of course over the summer he didn't want to read anything. He did finally get everything done, but he said he wished he had taken a booster pill as soon as he got home.
I think you are lucky to be able to get Merrie's opinion on these speeches! Of course yo have been with her long enough that you probably don't really need her input - you can probably come to the same conclusions on your own!

Na -- I just run the business -- I have no idea how to do the training, but I have seen my fair share of great and really bad speakers! One of the most interesting we've had through the office is Cong. Sam Johnson. He was in the "Hanoi Hilton" (prison in Vietnam but that's how they referred to it) with McCain, but was there much longer. Cong. Johnson's wife Shirley is an incredible woman. They were married when he was shot down, and she waited for almost 7 years (I think that's correct) to hear if he was alive or dead. I really enjoyed hearing Cong. Johnson tell stories, and he also had a few tall tales as well!

Thanks for all the good thoughts for me & the kids. Katie seemed much better today. Daniel's nose bleed stopped & he fell right asleep. Today was his first day of school & he was very excited.

Dana accepted the offer for NC this morning...we will be moving to the Raleigh area over Christmas break.

I am :) and :scared: and :yay:

Congrats and good luck on the move. Will you be able to transfer to a disney store their?

I came home from work and crashed.

I am really overwhelmed at work. I actually have been working since I got up after my nap. I have to finish review Plans of Work, then create 3 year plans for the units, plus I have to do my self-evaluation. Basically they want it all done so they can do the annual reviews. Which are supposed to be finished by the 20th of this month.

I will probably be working on this stuff this weekend. I am having a hard time motivating myself to get this stuff done. I am mentally still on vacation. But my stress level is probably higher then before I left.

I am also very worried that my foot is not healed and that I will need surgery. I have my x-ray tomorrow and my appointment Tuesday. If I need surgery I will have to be cast for 8 weeks. I am really hoping that my foot is healing on its own, without any need for surgery.

I hope you all had great days.

Can you all spare a few bits of pixie dust. It looks like Hanna is going to move up the coast near us Friday night into Saturday and from the path they are showing it will hit us from the west. Which is exactly where we don't want it to hit from. It obviously wont' be catastrophic but Isabel in 2003 was a TS and we ended up with 4 feet in the basement from just the storm surge.

 :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Is he the one from Plano? Somebody was on Channel 8 - I think it might have been him.

Merrie did a presentation for the nannies once. WAY back when we were a much more professional group (now we are just a social group). It was fascinating!
