DDA Chapter 11

Theresa - Just think... your day can only improve from here on out!

Theresa - did I hear there was a tornado in Denver this weekend? Or was that just part of my vivid dreaming that's begun?

I am not Theresa, but... yes, there was. There was video of it on NBC this morning.

Did I mention the airplane crash in Southern Utah? On Friday night, a small plane crashed killing all 10 passengers. I didn't think too much of it when I heard it on the news, as they didn't mention any names.

Early Saturday morning, Alan's work called and told him that all 10 people were from Cedar City (where I was born and grew up). They were part of a medical team that would fly to small communities without medical facilities and do check ups, etc., once a week. They wanted Alan to go to Cedar City and talk to the families of the victims. Alan told them he wasn't comfortable with that, and wanted to know the names of the dead. Work called him back and told him the names. Well, it turns out that both of us knew at least 5 of the people. One was my dermatologist who removed all the cancer from my back when I was 12. And 2 were the husband and daughter of one of the people who works for my dad.

Alan told work that he would not be going, since we know those families, and he didn't feel right about invading their privacy at this time. It would just be too awkward! They weren't happy, but they agreed it wouldn't be the best thing.

The mayor of Cedar City is planning a memorial service for all 10 at the University there this Thursday. I'm not sure if we're going, or not, but I'll let you all know. If you could just keep those families in your thoughts and prayers, I know they would appreciate it.

Oh, thank you! During my pregnancies, from about the third trimester until the end, I begin to dream vividly about disasters. It's happened all 3 times, and I didn't know if this was signaling the start of that.

Glynis - Good thoughts for those families! How sad!

Jen - Sorry you still don't have any news!

Theresa - I hope your day gets better! :wizard: I try not to say it can't get worse, because of course it can! :rotfl2:

I did read about the crash and thought of you, Glynis. Actually, I immediately thought of Alan and hoped he was safe at home with you. How very sad.

there were actually 5 tornadoes touch down between Saturday and Sunday. The 2 on Saturday were up near where we were and the 3 yesterday were about 15/20 miles from us. (Up near where you stayed Jen to give you an idea)

It was my weekend for weird weather!!

Good morning, DDA!

The morning was rough traffic wise, but everyone got to school doing well. MomBoss' boyfriend bought the girls each one uniform this weekend so they were dressed properly, which I think is a good thing. They do have Crocs on which is a no-no, but apparently no one knows where sneakers are. Too bad I suggested we find them two weeks ago. However, I was told that Cinderella didn't have any and that BigSis' one missing shoe was totally AWOL. Guess what MomBoss left for me to do today...."find sneakers ASAP."

Glynis - How sad for your hometown. Our thoughts go out to them all. I'm glad that Alan didn't have to go.

Janet and Lyndsey - I can't remember if I said Happy Birthday so.....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Marci - Sounds like the party went really well! I hope the boys have a good first day of school.

Deb - I hope the glands are nothing big and you continue to feel fine. :wizard:

Jen - So sorry that you have to wait longer. :( Hopefully the meeting is all about what room they are going to put your new class in, etc. :cheer: :wizard: :wizard:

Theresa - Hope your day improves quickly! I hated all of the times we almost got hit crossing legally. There was one intersection when we lived in Cambridge, Ma that was the worst! We rerouted our path to Phil's work at MIT just to miss it.

Well, I've got to get books picked out (we're at the liberry), etc as we're headed to a park playdate in a little while. After that, I need to go see about getting the playroom in some kind of order at work. Don't know how I'm going to do it as BigSis' "room" is already down there in 1/3 of the basement area plus they want to add a set of bunkbeds and a daybed for when the bf's kids starting overnights in a couple of weeks. To me eyes/mind that leaves about 4 square feet of available space, but apparently no one else agrees. Guess we'll see.

Wow! My cousin didnt mention it and thats close to her house...glad yorue safe!

Glynis-I am so sorry about the plane crash. Bless those families and town dealing with the aftermath.

Tia - Well, it was nice of the boyfriend to buy some uniforms for the girls. I hope you are able to find some shoes for them this afternoon. What a mess. :sad2:

DS actually went to school in shorts WITHOUT wearing a jacket zipped up to his throat. Hopefully he won't freeze. We got him some sneakers last week that he likes, so at least he was comfortable. He is wearing his favorite shorts. They are tan, so I see no reason why he can't wear them to school. A lot of the kids don't comply with the uniform guidelines, so I am not going to worry too much about it. His shirt was tucked in, he was wearing a belt, so he was already ahead of a lot of them!

I just found what sounds like the perfect position for me! It is fewer hours, but the pay is almost the same. Terra would be welcome and the hours are perfect for allowing us time for homeschool, trips, etc. I'm waiting to hear back from the family from my initial email so any good thoughts would be greatly apprecited! Thanks!!
