I would always make my kids walk next to the cart and hold onto the side of it. As you've seen, they are too hard to steer with one hand.

I think that would probably land me in jail faster than the other thoughts running through my head. Though a cattle prod or a branding iron could be fun

I am so spoiled by only having Princess these days it is hard to remember what I did when I had 2 or 3 little ones. I guess I shopped where I could get carry-out!

I thought my girls were the only ones who could remember where people stayed when they came to visit (down to the room) when they were 2!!

I will say they probably do get it from me.....I have a nearly complete photographic memory. My favorite memory is when I was at a convention and somebody asked if anybody had seen their shoes...I told them where they were down to behind their luggage...they said not that shoe. So I told them where that one was.

Cassidy keeps trying to get around that...she says nuh uh I didn't say that...poor girl hasn't learned yet.

I can remember vividly all kinds of things from when I was about 2 or 3, including having an accident at the talking map in Gettysburg when I was there with my family. My mom and my cousin Sue, (the one I stay with in Mass, she was about 10 then) were sitting on either side of me and I had to use the potty. They were both riveted by that stupid map they just kept telling me to hush. Then they heard the trickle on the concrete floor! But ask me what I did yesterday and I probably couldn't tell you!

Scary, isn't it? My cousin has often wondered exactly what went on when our moms were growing up that made them that way. I know part of my clutter problem stems from me growing up with Mom telling me not to throw anything away! I think I am better about it than Mom is, though.

I am better but it's hard. I do it now only because it's maddening being home and surrounded by it all day. My dad always wants me to come over and clear out their house when my mom is away. She won't get rid of anything either.

Theresa I would get up and move directly into his line of sight. If he looked away I'd move again. I think he'd get the message after a while.

Amy good luck with the new start. I wouldn't be able to diet while suffering from lack of sleep. When I'm tired caffeine and sugar (chocolate especially) are my friends

Jennifer I found the best way to teach Dads the reality of taking care of the kids is to leave the house. If I wanted a break I would leave, I would go anywhere as long as I was getting a Mommy break. I'm sure Chris had trials and tribulations along the way, but all the kids are alive and no worse for wear I could leave for any length of time and I am confident that Chris could handle whatever might arise.

Scary, isn't it? My cousin has often wondered exactly what went on when our moms were growing up that made them that way. I know part of my clutter problem stems from me growing up with Mom telling me not to throw anything away! I think I am better about it than Mom is, though.

I've heard it has to do with living through the depression or having parents who lived through the depression (at least for the older generations). My parents were very poor when I was growing up. I was lucky to get any new clothes - usually they were hand me downs. I remember getting one doll for Christmas one year when I was 6 or 7. We kept everything because it might be useful. Their parents were very poor as well because of the depression. It was very hard for me to let go of that compulsion to keep everything because it might come in handy some day (and I might not be able to get/afford another one).

So I came up with a crazy idea of making Nick into Mr. Potato Head for his costume. I want to make the various body parts with extras and have them velcro on. That way we could change his appearance. What do you all think?
