DDA Chapter 11

Well, so far I have managed to make one incredibly WEAK pot of coffee (I have never used this coffee maker before), one pot of stronger coffee with grounds in it :headache: , and Princess peed all over herself, her shoes, and the floor in the playroom. This does not bode well for the rest of my day. :sad2:

I am sorry, my yesterday seems to have moved on to you. I ended up with only 1 work shoe at work and the day went down from there. :rotfl:

Marci - I missed your post earlier!
I think DS's meds still need to be tweaked because the dose is the same one he had almost a year ago. They gave him a prescription for a "booster" dose of Ritalin for days when his homework load was heavy, but the Focalin is still only 15 mg. which I think is pretty low. On the other hand, he only weighs 74 pounds on a good day so I don't know how much they will increase the dose. He goes to the Dr. this afternoon, so I am going to see if DH will meet me there. Maybe DH can entertain Princess while I talk to the Dr. about DS. DH is worthless at Dr. appointments which is why I was really excited to have that appt. on Monday when I was off work. Then we had to cancel it. :headache:

I hope the newbie teacher is OK as a lead!

DS is really nervous about Monday. I hope he gets good teachers. I am stressed out about him having PE. He is sooooo slow at getting dressed that I can see him being late in and out of PE every single day, especially if they are supposed to shower afterwards. We need to request a 504 meeting, but last year the counselor said they don't like to do that until after the first 6 weeks. I think it needs to be sooner than that so he gets off on the right foot with all of the teachers.

I got this in reply this morning. Much better

Mrs. H:

You are correct, the wording was not appropriate. Instead of arguing, Ixxx should have made every effort to help the situation. Arguing did not aid the situation.

Regarding our nice and bright policy ... you are correct, in this instance, that was not the time to be nice and bright. Rather, it was the time to do something, such as, ice or aid as you suggested.

I appreciate your point of view and again offer my apologies for this unfortunate accident.

R L

That is much better, Terry! :thumbsup2

I have to say, every time you abbreviate your name I wonder why you are talking about me. All my students and their parents call me Mrs. H! Bob says they will have to put that in my obituary or no one will know I died. :rotfl2:

...and all you have to do is google "calgon take me away" and he pops up!

I am sure that Debbie would have enjoyed that bath more than the ones we offered last night! ;)

Ok how did you manage that lol

Elizabeth I hope your day improves!

The time has come for me to do a quick vacuum and get out here. At least the weather is supposed to be good this weekend. It will be nice to get out of here since I always seem to find more to do.

Have a great weekend

Well, we survived the play group! Only one little girl showed up! The mom had e-mailed me last night asking if it was OK to bring the 4 year old brother along, and I said that was fine. I brought DS to their house, so fair is fair. So it was just DS, Princess, and those 2. Very nice not to have a huge crowd! Not sure what happened to the others who were supposed to be here. :confused3

I got an e-mail from PhotoPass confirming my refund on the pre-paid CD, so hopefully that will show up on my credit card soon and I won't have to think about it anymore! :rotfl2:

I went to DisneyShopping to order a new pin bag for DS but the only ones they have are Tinkerbell and Jessica Rabbit! :headache: I guess I will try to order one from Merchandising when I get around to calling them about the ruined rubber duck.

Elizabeth I hope your day improves!

you know I walk to work...well, in getting my book out of my backpack on Wednesday night I must have knocked one of my work shoes out and I didn't check closely in the morning because:

a.) I was running LATE even though I was awake early
b) couldn't find anything for lunch or the money for supper
c) remembered as I was leaving the house that I had to email Abi's schedule to myself so I knew were to go later that night

all of this before 7:45 (I did make it to work only 5 minutes late even though I left 15 minutes late and I had to dodge 3 cars in crossing the street, legally):upsidedow

My day did have bright spots...my volunteer took this stray home for supper and then dropped me off at the school where I was tortured for two and a half hours and then had to run and get the last NEEDED supplies:rolleyes: at Kmart...those needed supplies cost me $50 bucks!! ($7 for ONE binder!!)

Theresa - If it makes you feel any better, DS's binder set me back $18. It had to be a 3", 3 ring binder. He insisted that the regular kind fall apart, so he got this fancy nylon zippered thing with a handle. If he loses it or it gets stolen or falls apart I will not be very happy!

the other really cool binder she got ($10 from Costco) already is tearing at the seams:headache: at least that is a not very used pocket but STILL!

I didn't event think to look at Sam's for a binder. We got his at Staples.

I called the guidance counselor to tell her that I want each of the teachers to have a copy of DS's 504 and that I want a new meeting. She said we should wait to have the meeting after the teachers have a chance to observe DS for a few weeks. I am cool with that, but I told her that last year I had teachers arguing with DS about completing work that he should not have been required to complete. "Write these 10 definitions 10 times each" is the sort of thing that drives DS over the edge, and it takes HOURS for him to do it. The teachers need to be aware of that on the FIRST DAY. He had a teacher tell him last year it wasn't "fair to the other kids" if he did his definitions on the computer. HELLO? Federal law says the teachers have to comply, it doesn't matter whether they like it/agree with it/think he can do the work as assigned. The teachers who have been around a long time seem to be better about compliance than the young ones (no offense, Jen ;) ) so I hope he gets older teachers.

Those on the photo session board have been told that the price has gone up for private sessions from $25 with preordered cd to $75 with preordered cd... I don't know if I can justify $75 for photos taken by a non-professional...though those are probably the only pictures that Bob and I will have together...

I was really bummed they did away with these as well :sad2: I can get them across the street, but it is not the same as eating them at Disney. I do like the ones from the bakery though, Riley & I shared one this trip.

Terra is going to be so dissapointed. They are our favorite snack! I guess it's a good thing I have such a long list of snack credit options to try. ;)

Hi all...I've been MIA for a few days and really have no idea what's going on. Things here have been upside down and I haven't had much time to get on the computer.

I'm glad the news is good for your mom. I hope she's doing well today. :wizard: that Mo continues to sleep better. And lots of  to you for everything that's going on.

Can I just say that after watching all of these Olympics, I am exhausted. I told Stephanie I would not give up the time I watched these events. I enjoyed every minute.

I just know I need SLEEP!!!!!

Me too! I hate to see the games over, but I really need to sleep. Terra found out last night that they are almost over and she's not very happy about it. She wants to know how she's supposed to watch them swimming and diving and doing gymnastics now.

The appointment yesterday went quite well! The girls' pediatrician is very excited about their growth, despite having reached it by drastically over-feeding them for a few weeks :rolleyes1

Glad that things went well at the doctor! Sounds like there's some good plans moving forward.

I am going to go to Salt Lake City...it's an inexpensive flight and I can finally meet Glynis. :lovestruc

I'm always jealous that some of you all live so close to each other. Glynis is the closest to me and I have to take an hour and a half flight to see her!!
I told Cassidy last night...I only have to tell Abi and Jim. (and buy the tickets:rotfl: )

Now I'm jealuos! Sounds like a really nice trip and I'm so happy that you are going. :goodvibes:

Thanks, the plus side is I think I'm really going to like this new gym, the equipment is much more up to date, and with individual tv's on each of the elipticals and treadmills I just plug in the headphones and watch tv, it makes the time fly by.

Now if I can just figure out how to work the strength training machines :confused3

That sounds like a really nice place. I'm so glad that it is working out for you. I have a hard time with the strength things too.

Guess that decides things for me then, doesn't it. Oh well, I was having a hard time figuring out how to work it in anyway.

Ouch! Can you just plan to hit several of the "plain" PhotoPass guys early one morning at MK?

Our resort session pics aren't bad, but I wouldn't have paid an EXTRA $75 for them on top of the price of the CD. (OK, we got the CD and the photo shoot for free because DH won that certificate, but theoretically.) We got about 40 pics during our session, some better than others. We did the 8:30 AM shoot and in some of the pics we are squinting, even though the guy tried to angle us so we weren't looking into the sun. There are a couple where I have a stray piece of hair sticking out, one of DH that is off center, you know, normal PhotoPass stuff.

We got 3 5x7's free (which is the offer if you buy your CD in the parks) and we got a free photo mug (which was some sort of DVC member deal), plus we got a free photo from being grand marshals and another free 5x7 from the Disney Visa meet & greet, so we have plenty of photos!

Is it 5 yet???

I've gotten 4 calls in less than a half hour to say when the Optimist Peaches would be delivered and about a dozen calls telling me I should be calling them (who I don't know from Adam) telling them when they can pick up their peaches. :upsidedow I asked one lady a couple of questions to find out how well she knew the building so that I could tell her how to pick up her peaches. She then proceeded to interrupt me as I am trying the best way to do so...she said I just want to know where to pick up the peaches. I said "I was trying to tell you!"

You all know my week hasn't been the best....I've been cleaning up messes left by others, today has been no exception. One of those 4 calls was from a gentleman who has his hearing aids turned off all of the time (even driving!!:scared1: ) and he kept talking even though I thanked him and said I knew when the peaches were coming. He just now cornered me about something to do with Sunday. I got impatient and said NOBODY HAS BEEN HERE FOR THAT TO BE RESOLVED. :headache: :headache:

The reason I got impatient?? I am trying to get back to the office to call Roto Rooter....our ONE truly handicapped accesible bathroom is backed up and I am the only one in the office (again) to be here to deal with it. Kind of symbolic of my week.

I feel a smidge better!!
