DDA Chapter 10

My dad just called and told me that my uncle (his eldest brother) died this afternoon. I don't know much details other than his wife left this morning and he seemed fine and came home to find him dead. They live in Wisconsin and I imagine just my dad and other uncle (the middle brother) will head out there soon. The cousins that we just visited over the 4th are his kids.

I'm so sorry. Your family will be in our prayers. :grouphug:

Robyn, I'm sorry for your family's loss

Jen, how are you feeling this morning?

Good morning, DDA! Hope all is well. I think Terra and I are headed to the zoo or Science Center with my uncle, his son and grandkids. One of the grandkids was supposed to have surgery this week, but it was postponed indefinitely (all for good). James already had his ticket, etc to come here for it so decided to come anyway so now Joe is bringing the kids over for the day to see him.

Unfortunately, work is still a big question mark after all as has MomBoss has yet to contact me since we talked on Monday to let me know when she wants me to come back in following Cinderella and possibly BabyGirl being sick. I have called, left messages and sent text messages and all have gone unanswered. I am at a total loss of what to do next. I am totally confused about how we could have had the hour long conversation we had on Monday and then her not having contact me back since. I just don't know what to do anymore other than start looking for another position and hope for the best all around. :confused3 If she happens to call or text this morning, we'll show up at work as promised, otherwise I guess we'll sit in wait for another day.

Jen - I hope that you are feeling better this morning. :wizard:

Elin - I thought some of those sounded interesting as well. I hope you find some events you like. The new program sounds really odd. I'm not sure that's what I'd want for Terra, but I hope your students enjoy it.

Thanks everyone! He is excited about it for a few reasons. One of them is that they have state mandated & funded gifted schools which solves our dilemma with Daniel. We wouldn't have a huge school bill & he would be getting the quality of education he is currently receiving. Of course the cost of living there is way better than what we have here. We would get alot more for our money as far as a home is concerned...and with all this savings more trips to Disney! :rolleyes1 It's alot to think about...I love NYC but I hate the taxes & the snow. I will keep all of you posted...thanks again for the thoughts!

Good luck with his interview and with your decision!

I think there needs to be another adjective to describe the seminar. Yamaha Music Education has opted to throw out a curriculum that I have loved teaching for the past 12 years or so and is replacing it with a very media-driven program for our 4-6 year old groups. It is full of Pokemon-like creatures and singing songs that make no sense to me that are contained on coordinating CDs and DVDs that are very Japanese anime' in style. The piano repertoire looks OK, but the singing songs leave me cold.

I am hoping that once I see that my students love it, so will I. But the seminar is led by an instructor that is just not my cup of tea, so I will be headed into this thing with a bit of a doubting-Thomas chip on my shoulder. That being said, I hope to learn a lot in the upcoming 8 hours; enough at least to teach a course in less than a month!
Good luck elin--sounds different!

Jen, how are you feeling this morning?

Jen- How are you feeling tonight? :wizard:
.
Well apparently the surgeon told my mom that my recovery may be a bit rougher due to the scar tissue he saw. Last night was very painful. I got an hour of sleep here and there. For some reason, the pain medication is not making me tired
i ate italian ice, applesauce, and jello yesterday.
The plan for today is keepign the ice on it and keep drinking water.
Thanks for thinking about me!

Boo... I hope the recovery isn't as bad as anticipated. Hang in there! :goodvibes

Kevin took Alyssa to her first soccer practice tonight, and he came home an assistant coach! :upsidedow

Good for him. For that age, you don't really have to know much about soccer. The most important thing will be teaching them the very basics like dribbling the ball (kicking it while running) and how to be on a team. It will require patience because they can rarely focus at that age, plus lots of drying of tears and application of band-aids! :thumbsup2

Our flight to Atlanta was basically without incident. We had a 30 minute delay since the plane was late arriving from JFK. Seems our crew started out the day in Panama! From there they went to JFK, then Richmond and finally Atlanta.

I have free internet but it is S L O W as all get out. So, I think I will say goodnight and I will see you all in the morning before I head out to my seminar. :goodvibes

Have fun. I hope the curriculum grows on you.

I think my second cake is finally cool enough to stick in the freezer, so I'm headed upstairs. Noah knows exactly when my head hits the pillow, so I'm sure I'll be up for a little while longer.

Noah had his one month appointment today. He's up to 9 pounds, 11 ounces, and he's 22 1/2 inches long. :goodvibes

My grandparents are arriving tomorrow and staying for one night. I have no idea how much nagging my grandma had to do to get my grandpa to agree to this, but hopefully we will have a wonderful visit!

Hope you all are having a good week!
Amy :)

Good for Noah! I hope you guys have a nice visit. I haven't even had time to look at pics from DC, much less the world series tournament or anything else, but I'll try to post pics.

Good luck with his interview and with your decision!

Jen -- I hope today/tonight are better. Sending lots of PD and prayers to you.

I'm waiting on Orkin and the plumber -- more house maintenance today. By the way -- my present from my office was a handyman. I had asked for this and they found someone that would drive out to Kaufman. He's coming tomorrow and will clean out my gutters, powerwash the house and wash all the outside windows. Yahoo!

Now that's a present! My mom would be thrilled with a gift like that though making her to do list for him would be the hard part.

oh man Tia that has got to be frustrating. Have fun at the zoo.

Kristi did with Connor and I know it wasn't fun. I hope the cream helps soon as you get better ASAP! Has Virginia avoided getting thrush at the same time? Connor did, but I don't remember if Kristi was a result of him or vice versa.

yes she has avoided getting it. We are going to treat her though.

That is a great present!

mine are free...I have an account that I signed up for there (free) but I have the ability to download tunes to my phone...if you don't, well, that's a whole other world...not impossible though...you can do it with blue tooth..

Thanks! How much does it cost to get them?

As I sit here very close to where Denise lives I am wondering if anyone knows how her surgery went? I would call to check on her if I knew it would not disturb.

A couple of weeks ago when I talked to her she said it went well and she should have started her new job on Monday.
