We were invited to a birthday party that took place at Ohanas yesterday. We totally enjoyed our time there, and the characters and CMs were great! We had a great windo seat in the corner and could see the castle, SM and Splash Mtn.
I had thought we were going to EPCOT afterward, but the birthday girl had changed her mind to AK (I really really don't like AK when it is over 80 degrees!) So as I had told the parents I would help them out, I kept my commitment!
We arrived around 12n and the dad went and got FPs for EE (the DM, DF and DD had ridden it before) for everyone but me.. as I WAS NOT GOING ON THE RIDE - no way no how! We got FPs for 4:40.
We then did ITTBAB, then headed to Dinoland. DD and one of the kids rode Primevil Whirl twice, and they kids played some carnival games. I beat the father of another family of four that was playing Whack-A-Mole, and he seemed annoyed - I guess he figured he could win since he was the only grown man! He didn't know that I RULE at Whack A Mole, as it is a great stress reliever! Where else can you get away with beating something on it's head as hard as you want!
We attempted to feed the kids lunch at Donald's Restaurantasaurus (sp) but it was mobbed, so we continued on to Pizzafari. Everyone but me enjoyed their pieces - all I wanted was a gallon of water!
Then it was off to Africa for the safari. The FP time was only about 1/2 hr, and worked great with our FP time for EE. We waited around the FP area, and the kids (my DD in particular was asking one of the CMs lots of animal questions, most of which he could answer and the one he was not certain of he called the "animal question hotline!!!" He was very nice, and I just know that his name was Bill. If he was not a teacher in another time in his life he should have been. My DD got the "MOST INQUISITIVE" award in her class this year and comes up with some dozies!!
We watched to parade from the FP area for the safari, and then it was just about time for our 4:15 FP. The safari was great. We saw more animals then DD and I normally do - so it was a success!
When that was done we headed to EE. One of the little girls who was not too brave at all (she rode Primevil Whirl one time with DD and the other child and did not like it) and then was quite intimidated by the safari(?) ----- so once we got to EE - she could not decide what to do - I don't think she wanted to be the only child who did not ride, but you could tell she was SCARED, and then she started to cry (THERE'S NO CRYING IN WDW!)
After about 5 minutes of conferring (in the blazing hot sun... there is NO shade in that area) she decided through tears to stay with me. I think my DD was a little hesitent, but I told her if any part of her wanted to ride, it was a good idea to go - since she had another adult to ride with - as I would never, ever set foot on the ride (I am the ultimate roller coaster type ride chicken!)
This was the first time I had a close up of EE - we had only seen from afar - so it was very cool to watch it! We saw them come up and then we saw them come down. DD took a moment to regroup when they exited, but a moment later was ready to ride again. If we had gotten a FP for me that was unused, she could have because we did have the one extra. The one boy that was with us was the lucky winner to re-ride - ALONE!!!! DD and I needed to make our exit, as we needed to get home to the dogs!
We really enjoyed our day, and although AK is my least favorite park on a 90something degree day, we did survive!
Here's a couple pics! My favs I can't share as they have other people's children in them!
DD is near the back - 5 rows in front of the guy in the red shirt with his hands up - not that you can really see her!
I love this monkey in the parade. I was glad I had the swivel LED display on my digital camera, I was in a spot where viewing the parade was great and it was in the shade (under the FP machine enclosure for the safari!), but I had to lift my camera up and somewhat around the pole I was next too! Pics turned out pretty good for shooting this way!
