DD7 broke her ankle and is in a cast

DD7 broke her ankle at her soccer game last week and is in a cast. We are going to disney in 2 weeks. She has the shoe that goes on her foot so she can walk on it, but after awhile she gets tired and her foot hurts. I thought about getting a wheelchair for her. I'm sure the park will be packed at this time and I know the lines will be long. Does anyone have any tips to make this easier for all of us? Can she be in the wheelchair throughout the line or would I have to leave it where you drop off the strollers? I cant imagine her standing in an hour long line on her foot. Part of me is saying to just cancel this trip but then she would be so disappointed. This will be our first time going during Christmas. Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. Get a wheelchair! Then you can take it straight to the load area without her having to stand. If you just use a buggy she'll have to get out.

Soccer is a nasty rough game, over here its mostly boys who play - they won't play mixed soccer in case they get hurt

She is 7 so a park wheelchair will be to big for her. I would rent a park stroller or rent a medical stroller from a medical place in Orlando and get a Guest Assistance Card (GAC) to use a stroller as a wheelchair. That way you will be able to take the stroller in the lines with you.

Hi and to disABILITIES!

First thing I would suggest is renting a pediatric wheelchair or special needs stroller (due to her size) from an off-site company. I notice you are in Florida, so I assume you will be driving here. You might want to rent one locally.

Otherwise, If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. The top item is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information, including where people rent wheelchairs and ECVs.

If you are using a stroller, when you enter the first Park you go to, proceed directly to Guest Services inside the park and ask for a "Stroller as Wheelchair" tag. Note that the person to whom it is issued (your daughter) must be with you to get the tag.

As wheelchairs are allowed in all the lines up to the boarding area, this will allow you to take the stroller (if you use one instead of a wheelchair) in the line with you.

In addition, you might want to talk to the person who will be removing the cast. Have a line drawn on the cast where it will be cut for removal. Then bring along some "Sharpies" and have the characters autograph the cast, asking them to make sure their signature does not diectly cross the line.

Once the cast is removed and fully dried out, you will then have a very unusual souvenier of the trip.
