DD17's W-2 form does not show any federal wages withheld?

Is this because she's under 18? Mistake on employers part?

It only shows ss tax and medicare tax taken out for the year. The wages are only $1500.

Can't call the employer yet, it's too early.

Does anyone know why she would not pay federal taxes?

She did not make enough money to have federal taxes withheld. Not a big deal, she probably won't owe anything either.

I just looked at my dd's paychecks stubs and they did not take anything out. She made over 3000. Now she worked at Six Flags and it is seasonal.

well the issue when you have a low income is they dont take any or hardly any tax out
also if she claimed s1 on her w2 that would hold hardly anything out
if she has to pay in maybe consdier filling out a new w2 to have a minimum amount with held from
in both cases i doubt there is enogh to worry about but they may have to send a small amount to the irs

I'm assuming that she still needs to file and that she might not owe anything, but she won't be entitled to a refund either, because she didn't pay any federal taxes. I'll complete her paperwork tonight and e-file.

A lot depends on how the W-4 was filled in. And also if she has no more than $400 in non-earned income.

And as long as her earned income was below $5,700 her tax will more than likely be zero. In this situation there would be no need to even file a tax return.
