DD11 confesses that she doesn't "believe" anymore

My DD is 9 and is still holding onto her faith in Easter Bunny and SC. She outright asks me if they really exist as, of course, there is a hot debate amongst her friends as to whether they are real or not. She really wants to believe and I tell her that everyone has different beliefs and some of her friends have different traditions and some don't even celebrate, so its what she believes in her heart that counts. I'm not sure if I should have told her the truth...I don't even know if I could find the right words! What have others told their kids when asked outright??

Well...DD started the questioning last year. I made a joke of it and said "Do I look like a rabbit?" every time she asked. That worked last year. But yesterday when she found all of the stuff I was speechless when she asked.
I never really answered directly, but she knows.

I had the same thing happen with dd,10 the other night. She started questioning and her rational mind is telling her that something doesnt seem right. I never answered her question directly. I told her if she chose not to believe then the bunny wouldnt be visiting. I think I made her feel bad but I just couldnt bring myself to admit it so I beat around the bush.

I've been lucky so far. My kids are 9, 7, and 6, and not one of them has even started to question yet.

My 8 year old knows. He thought it would be fun to tell his six year old brother this weekend, but I'm pretty sure the younger one didn't believe the older one. The older one was in big trouble.

Awww... that was very sweet! Hey, I'm 45 and still like to get a basket from the Easter Bunny! :goodvibes
Me too, except this year EB lost my basket so he had to improvise.

Eleven is a good age - it is sweet that she still wants all the magic just the same.

DD is 8 and hasn't let on about any doubts - yet. I think she will be like I was and not let on...just to let the magic keep going as long as possible!!!!

This year the tooth fairy and Easter bunny came on the same night!!! DH kidded DD that they better not run into each other or the EB would get an earfull (no pun intended) from the TF about all that candy!!!!! :)

:wizard:

I don't know if my ds3 believes or not. He kept saying "Thank you mommy for the Easter bunny!" :confused3
