DD11 confesses that she doesn't "believe" anymore

Well, the cat is out of the bag. DD11 confronted DH and I that she no longer believes in the Easter Bunny and knows it's us. She also said she no longer believes in SC. She was the last one in her 5th grade class to still think there really was a SC. I told her to believe what was in her heart and not to ruin in for her 8 y.o. brother. She said she still wants the bunny to bring her a basket, though.

It's tough when our babies grow up!

DD figured all this out when she was 8, in third grade. (She just turned 12). As she puts it, Santa Claus just looks different than what she grew up thinking. Santa actually has short brown hair, with Brown eyes, and never, ever wears anything red.

DH is kinda bummed, but will get over it. She says she will keep up the act for the sake of her brother. She said she still wants the bunny egg trail in the morning!!

What? No bunny? No Santa!?!? You mean... They... are not real? But... I questioned their existance once, and was told as soon as I stopped believeing they will stop giving me stuff. So I believe!

Easter Bunny and SC still come here every year.

On year my DS had lost a tooth and said he couldn't wait for the tooth fairy to come, yet this was the same child that didn't believe in Santa. So I told him that I called the tooth fairy (because every mommy has their phone number)to tell her that he had lost his tooth and she was very upset that he didn't believe in her father Santa Claus anymore that she wasn't coming....and she stayed true to her word.

That is exactly what we tell our kids. We have a don't ask don't tell policy.

Officially my 19 year old still believes. He has never told me otherwise and I have never asked. I guess when he has kids Imay have to enlighten him. Naw, his wife can tell him.

My youngest discovered a secret stash in the closet when we were on vacation over Easter one year. I think she was in the fourth grade. She came out into the room, looked at me and said, "My whole life has been a lie!"

DD9 (almost 10) just confessed the same thing to me!!! We had a long talk about it and she decided it would be just as much fun knowing something that the 2 younger siblings didn't know. I told her she could help hide eggs after they are asleep tonight. She is more excited about that than I ever saw her about the Easter Bunny. I told her being the oldest has it's privileges.

Today I wanted to just curl up and hide: I was getting ready to take DD7 to meet her DF to spend the night. She gets 2 holidays. Anyway, I had put some stuff in the trunk all ready except for the chocalate so it wouldn't melt. We are getting ready to go and I ask her to use the remote to pop the trunk but don't open it-she likes to help put her suitcase in-well she opens it and lifts it up only to see her easter basket and some bubbles and bubble catcher thing and a bag, but I had put it in the very back of the trunk-OMG. I call her dad and tell him I have blown it. I am usually so careful, I will even hide presents so well that at christmas, I forget where I put them-lol. So we get in the car and I ask her if she saw that her easter basket was in there to take to her dads and she says yes, but who's bubbles? I say that I wanted to give them to her so she can play with them at her dad's. She tells me I am the best Mom in the world, however, she can't see me crying softly. Then she starts talking about the Easter bunny and she can't wait to see what he has left for her in the morning.
I found out about SC when I was in the 3rd grade because DF was cussing while trying to put up my Barbie townhouse up. I know she will eventually know, but I just wanted to crawl under a rock.

I was the oldest child, so even when I knew, I never said a word.

It will be heartbreaking when my son figures it out. He was so excited tonight, he was asleep much earlier than usual because I told him the Easter Bunny couldn't come until he was sleeping.

you are quite lucky the cat wasn't out of the bag years ago... My eight year old brought me the easter baskets yesterday so that "Daddy & I can fill them", I think my eight year old caught on a long time ago LOL....

DS will be 14 next month and as far as my ears know...the others on this thread are really pulling someone's legs!! He has never been fond of the floppy ear guy, so since I'm sure this hurt his feelings, the Easter Bunny hasn't visited us in a few years. Now, that man in the red suit and drives a sleigh...oh, yes! He faithfully visits us every year...even this past Christmas while we were at WDW. We arrived home on the 26th to find he had indeed left our gifts here for us! DS was really surprised when he found his presents on his bed instead of in the usual place. So, HaleyB, you give me hope!

I was 'outed' yesterday by DD9. I had all of the goodies stashed in my closet, and guess who happened to go in there? So of course I was asked a million questions but we ended the conversation with me telling her if she didn't believe then the Easter Bunny wouldn't be visiting her anymore.

When I tucked her in bed tonight, she told me (with a big smile on her face) that she "really, really LOVES the Easter Bunny."
