It's nights like this that I absolutely HATE her job.. I live in constant fear of these phone calls..
She's a supervisor in a group home for troubled teenage girls and this isn't the first time she's been attacked.. This particular girl was not one of hers (ie: on her unit) but rather a new girl that had just been placed today.. She was attempting to flee the building and my DD and a co-worker had her in a "standing hold".. Somehow she broke free from it and when they tried to step it up to a "take down" restraint, all heck broke loose..
First she started scratching and clawing at my DD's neck and then she started biting her..
At least twice they were able to get her mouth off my DD's arm, but the third time she was like a pit bull and just wouldn't let go.. They ended up having to hold the girl's nose (so she couldn't breathe) and pull her head back at the same time..
Long story short, my DD has numerous severe bites on her arms, claw marks on her neck, and because of the backgrounds that these kids come from (and the bites that broke the skin), it opens a whole can of worms in terms of HIV testing, etc..
My son-in-law is on his way to be with her and said he'll call me on my cell phone as soon as he knows anything more.. If it were daytime I would be at the hospital myself, but my nighttime vision is so bad I can't drive all the way from here to the hospital that they're taking her to so I have to sit and wait.................
I don't know WHY she loves this job so much, but she does....
