any of you DVCers have experience with riding horses at WDW. She has seen pictures and film of folks doing that and she wants to check it out. Since many of you are frequent guests at WDW as DVC members, she felt you would have experience out there somewhere. Please advise for my DD princess:

Yes, My DW and two DD's did it last year and said it quite boring. You had to follow the guide and they walked pretty slow. The guide was a little anoying according to my DW. It was a little pricey, but what isn't. All I know is they said they would never do that again.

Now that being said my daughters have been on horses before and they were 9 and 11 at the time. If your daughter has never been on a horse or is younger then there could be a totally different experience. So who knows.

We have no first hand experience although my granddaughter wants to do that next trip. I do know that you have to be 9 years old to go and you have to go to Fort Wilderness to ride. I'm sure it'll be fun. Let us know how it goes when you get back!

You can horseback ride at Ft. Wilderness. They recommend sneakers or boots and long pants they have helmets so you do not have to bring your own. The trail starts near the check in area and goes behind some of the cabins its a nice easy ride. You can make reservations through guest services and drive over and park the padock is right there. Or you can buss it from your home resort. You can even go over and just view the horses as well, although you need a reservaton to ride. Enjoy!

Our sons were 10 and 13 when they did it and they were bored on the ride.

:D

it goes for 45 minutes and can be boring - or you can look around and sometimes see deer, fox, etc - just depends upon what you are looking for.

an exciting adventure - no - it is not

although it can be - if you let your horse eat and the CM catch you at - be prepared for the horse to get hit and then you get an exciting ride......

you register or tell them you are there - you need to go in the FW kennel.
