19DD has been driving one of our cars since she was 16. Now hoping to buy a new car on her own. Saturn has 0% financing on leftover 2002's right now. She found a 2 door hatch -- silver -- automatic -- with sunroof and has fallen in love with it! Ticket price is around $16,000 -- how much do you think she can get them down to?

Is Saturn a decent car for a young girl?

Thanks.
:D

My saturn is 6 years old and has 102,000 miles on it. Very few problems. I'd say it is a good car to have.

Wovenwonder, this may not apply now, but several years ago our daughter wanted to buy a Saturn and their policy was the price is the sticker price. No negotiations. I have no idea if things are the same now though. Tell her to look at the Ford Focus?? Those are cute little cars with great gas mileage. Son in law loves his for back and forth to work.

I missed the part about getting it for less. Saturn doesn't adjust pricing. What you see is what you get.

Although it has been 6 years since I bought mine I found the sedan I picked was cheaper than any of the other stickers for the same style / size. And I didn't have to deal with wondering if I got the best price. :)

I don't know about used cars, they might go down. But as faith said, they advertise as a no-haggle dealership.

However, Saturn, IMHO, is a great car for a young girl to have. Just enough speed to keep you out of danger, but not enough to get you in trouble. We had a wreck in our (brand-new!) Saturn a few years ago, and I was very impressed with how it did. It sacrificed itself for us. The car was totaled, but the cabin was intact. We were hit from the side and pushed in to oncoming traffic and came out with minor injuries. People said we were crazy to get another, like the brand was jinxed or something. After seeing what it did we said Heck Yeah We Will!

I haven't bought one yet, but I plan for my next car to be a Saturn (hopefully within a year or two). In Hawaii, just about all car dealers will push up the sticker price significantly and try to chock it up to "shipping" which is a bunch of balogna...it doesn't cost $5000 to ship a car even to Hawaii.

With Saturn, I once printed out a price from the Internet, and the sticker price on the car (which is what they charge) was almost the same as what I had printed out (some of the features were different). All other dealers charge more than sticker, if they can get away with it. Personally, I like Saturn's no-haggle policy.

They also are in the top 10 of JD Powers list of best customer service car brands, and I believe is the only one that is a non-luxury brand. Everyone I know that has one says the service can't be beat.

No, haggle, is right! The price is the price on the sticker. From that, you move UP by adding extras. I suppose you might try deleting some base/extra features and, see if they come down but, I doubt it.

My Saturn is 5yo. No major problems with it at all. Routine oil changes is all.

And, beware of the 0% financing. Read the small print. Not ALL buyers will qualify for this rate. When we recently purchased our Dodge Caravan, the 0% was for a MAJOR downpayment. From there, the rates went up depending on how little cash you had.

Best Wishes to your DD! ;)

I am almost done paying off my second Saturn (put so many miles on the first that when they offered the great financing and trade-in deal two years ago I took it!) As everyone else says - if the car is brand new they will not negotiate on the price, what you see is what you get! Saturns are great cars - I would recommend them to anyone. I have owned two and never had a single problem with either (and driving around Chicago, I put a lot of miles and wear and tear on my cars!) Saturns also have excellent safety ratings too! If your daughter can afford it and absolutely loves the car than go for it!

Yuck, don't buy a Saturn! Buy a Dodge! They have better designing, and they are very comfortable. I myself am buying a Nissan, which is also a comfortable car. Nissans are very good in price. You get a lot for the money.
