My 7 yr. of daughter is to be a frog in her concert next week and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to dress her.
My first idea is of course to get a green top and pants and then we were thinking about using a headband and somehow attaching eyes.
Any ideas? thanks

How about styrofoam balls for eyes and you could attach them to the headband with wire or twine or something? Then mabye cut out frog hands and feet from green poster board, and also put spots all over her green outfit?

I once took a headband and attatched 2 yellow ping pong ball eyes to it for a costume. Let's see, first I poked a small hole in each ball and glued one end of a pipe cleaner into each hole with the glue gun. Then I twisted the center of the pipe cleaner around the headband. I also added black marker pupils to the balls. It was really cute. Or you could use a green hoodie with eyes attatched to the hood. That'd be cute too.

Another way to make the hands would be to trace frog hand shapes onto green felt and stitch them together. Just be sure to leave enough room for her to get her hand inside the mitts. You might have to put a drawstring around the wrists to hold them on.

I'm not sure how big your house (oops - theater/auditorium) is but remember that the further away the person is from her audience the more exaggerated you need to make the costume.

The hands/feet will also have more impact if they are oversized to begin with - a sort of flipper shape would work well.

I just turned several actors into animals and we used elastic at the wrists and ankles to hold those components in place. Turn under about a 1/2 inch hem and insert 1/4" elastic should work.

Also if you wanted to go the "spotted" route without ruining a shirt that could be used for real clothes :p an oval shaped piece of green felt with yellow felt circles stitched or bonded on (Heat n Bond is great for this) would work. It could be safety pinned at the neck and shoulders to make it easier.

Have fun! and let us know what you end up doing!
