I'm so sad, my 5 year old DD knows who the "Characters Friends" are:( I knew it would happen, we go to a theme park just about every weekend and she has asked a few questions but I am usually able to talk my way out of it. And I think it's my fault. Yesterday we crazy hat day at school so she wore a hat that has character signatures on it. Well someone at school told her all about the characters, if she wouldn't of wore the hat, it wouldn't of come up. So now I am sad and afraid it's not going to be magical for her anymore. Well, hopefully no one tells her about Santa or the tooth fairy.:worried:

That doesn't take away all of the magic.

DD (5) knows that there are cosyumes, but still has a magical sense.

Yeah, she informed DH all of this today at Univeral and he asked her if she still wants to hug them and she said "oh yeah", so I guess thats something. Now as long as she doesn't tell her little brother.

At 3 our grand daughter knew that the characters were "pretend"...that it was just people dressed up in costumes.

We didn't tell her and we have no idea where she learned the info...but at age 6 I took her back to WDW and she could have cared LESS that they aren't "real"..........she still had a BALL with all the characters she met.

Don't worry. They always find out one way or another....

I hear your concern about her telling her little brother, so maybe tell her that it's a secret and that now SHE is the "keeper" of this very special secret.............

My son figured out the "characters" at a very early age but the magic was not diminished for him.

I'll bet your dd still enjoys interacting with the characters, even though she knows the "truth" now.

<font color=navy>My ds found out about the characters when he was really young, and about Santa, et al, when he was 8. He enjoyed being the big brother and letting his little sister believe in the magic.

On the other hand, it was little sister who told big brother where babies really come from. They just couldn't figure out how they got there. Made for some pretty interesting conversations in our house. ::yes::

We have told of DDs from day 1 that they are individuals in costume and it didn't ruin the magic for them. I think it made it a lot easier for them to go up to them.
