Over the last couple of weeks or so, DD has announced that she wants to start eating meat again.

THis doesnt seem much but is HUGE to us - she is 18 during our June vacation and for the first time in 5 years, I don't have to dissect each menu to make sure that there is a veggie meal that she will actually eat. She has a refound love of beef and chicken especially.

Looking to go for a nice meal - one where she can dress in a prom like dress and have a bit of a fuss made, to be honest. We will be on DDP and looking for a 2TS meal with a pretty interior.

YAY for red meat!!!! I am a big fan LOL

As for the dressing up and make a fuss, we ate dinner on our wedding night at California Grill, and I wore my wedding dress (not a full ball gown though) with no problem. The interior there is beautiful, and you can see wishes from the windows!

Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian would be my personal choice. Great food and a lovely setting right on the lagoon.

Other great choices would be Citricos (also at GF) and California Grill at the Contemporary.

NO!! :scared1: She can't! I've been vegetarian since the age of 14 and it's the best thing that has happened to me! I've had my pitfalls (like when I became severely anemic-I used a miracle liquid iron supplement called Spatone to correct it in just days :woohoo:) and cravings (especially seafood-I bought Yves fake shrimp and it hit the spot:goodvibes) but there are so many alternative products out there that it makes vegetarianism SO much easier. :thumbsup2 **If you're ever in Detroit, by the way, you have to check out the VegFest (meat-eaters happily welcome) which happens in late March/early April, it just may reinstate her diet. There's celebrities like John Salley, Rory Freedman and Tal Ronnen, tons of delicious food and about 3000 vegetarians, vegans and meat-eaters!**

But back to the question...Citricos would be a great choice because they have plenty of vegetarian items to choose from if she sticks with it! :)

Yay! Welcome her back to Team Carnivore!

I understand about dissecting a menu but I do that for no other reason than that I'm an extremely picky eater. You'll obviously have so much more to choose from, but I don't really have a suggestion for you as far as the gussied up dinner. What I would say is make sure with your daughter that her system can actually handle the meat now. I've heard of some long term veggies that have trouble readjusting to meat.

For the restaurant I vote for Citricos. It is our #1 favorite restaurant at Disney for both food and service.

I am so jealous. My DD is 18 also and vegetarian. What a pain. Especially since she isn't a big vegetable eater and my DS 15 only likes red meat. Because of her eating, we are purchasing the DDDP. We were at universal last year and she couldn't eat hardly anything and we ended up dining in the more expensive restaurants so she could eat.

DH:happytv: Me:banana: DD22 :flower3: DD18 :hippie: DS15 :scared1:

Yes that was our problem too - there were so many restaurants that we simply couldnt even try. No problems with her going back to meat though - I think that she was watching all her college friends eat at the KFC (which is very close to college) at lunchtime and realising what she was missing - fried chicken - that finally swung it for her.

Have been looking very closely at Citricos but final choice will be hers.

It's funny because since I've gone vegan, that's the ONE food I absolutely cannot stand watching others eat :lmao: It's so barbaric! Then again, I never ate meat off the bone as an omnivore, but it didn't weird me out so much back then :thumbsup2

I've also found that vegans are less picky than vegetarians- we're forced to get away from cheese-heavy diets and learn to cook veggies in tasty ways. I've never discounted any restaurants at Disney due to their selection- they're always willing to fix something delicious up :confused3

Nonetheless, when I ate meat, I found Yachtsman to have a lovely atmosphere for a special occasion.
