I always said grocery store until I worked with someone from southeastern MA/RI and picked up saying "market" from her. Thankfully her "cawfee" didn't stick.
Growing up we said "Tonic", my dad was real old-school New England, I started saying "soda" after hanging out with girls from western MA in college. I pick up accents and dialects much too easily. For a few days after I came back from a guided trip to France I was speaking heavily accented broken English like the local tour guides.
