Okay, first let me give you some background. I have jumped from planes, ridden every tall free falling ride I can get my hands on, and have walked on the ledge of one very tall building. However, recently, for some reason, I have developed a certain fear of heights. I cant explain it. Nothing happened to cause it. It just happened. I was riding the Tower of Terror at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom and got freaked out. Any of you that have happened to have seen it, well you know it isnt that big. DD10 is a coaster and thrill ride freak. Now I will not do free fall rides anymore but I still love ALL the other coasters and thrill rides. :confused3 She wants to ride Tower of Terror at the Studios.

Now, onto my question...

How can I let her ride it when neither my wife nor I ever intend to get near the seats for this thing? My concern is that I am not too sure about the interior of this attraction and how safe she would be letting her go in by herself.

I'm sure you and your wife can wait in line with her and then when she gets on they will let you take the "chicken elevator" and you guys can then wait for her when the ride is over.

Oh I can do that. I didnt know they had a "chicken elevator". :rotfl2: Thats great! Whew. My mind is at ease now. Thank you! :flower:

How old is your child? If she is 7 or older, she is allowed to ride the attraction without an adult. We were at AK yesterday, and because of back surgery, I can't go on many of the attractions, so I would walk my DD and her friend to the exit and show them where I would be waiting, then they would get on, ride and meet me. Worked out great, and they had a blast!

Sorry about your fear of heights. I have friends who have always LOVED coasters and now that they are in their 40's they have some inexplicable fear of them. Hope that never happens to me!

Hi Goofydad, the jumping out of planes got my attention. Our son is at Airborne school as I type! Do you think this "sudden" fear comes from being a daddy? I know when I was younger, not the old lady of 38 I am now,but 20's I didn't seem to have a care in the world.Having kids puts things in perspective, and I find that I don't take risks like I used to.Just a thought.... :wave2:

DD is 10 (or will be when we go in October) and she rides all kinds of things by herself. I ride everything she does except the free fall rides. Also, if we ever go to Cedar Point I may not ride that 300ft coaster they have there. I think I'll just walk with the her up to the ride then take the "chicken elevator".

I am sure it does. I have done Security or Police jobs most of my working life until DD came along. I got out of that lione of work really quick. :)

I was thinking the same thing myself. My girlfriend was fearless until she had a child. Now, she worries about even flying by herself..what would happen if she were to die on the plane and leave her dd motherless!!!?? I'll bet there's some of that going on. Now,me....well, heights have never been an issue for me...I just don't do 'em. We did ToT in August of 2003. Myself, dd, then 10 and dh. It was great. We thought it was going to be much worse than it was since I really hate that free-fall feeling. So, when dd and went in Dec. '03 we did ToT again. Oh man...whole different drop sequence. I thought I was going to die. Dd says as we get off.."Well then. That's a huge no in the future!!!" Evidently we got the wussy sequence in August and the over the top sequence in December. Won't be trying out any more sequences thank-you very much!!!

So, it looks like your dd will be doing the Daddy/Mommy swap except no swapping will happen...just leaving. Now that's cool. Good for her!!

You can just imagine the anxiety I have over flying in the PGW (pack of gum with wings) we are coming to orlando in. ACK!

I may try ToT. I stress, may. :) If I no longer write on these boards after October it is because I have had a heart attack!

I often tease DH because he freaks out going on things like the mini Eiffel Tower at Kings Dominion, but can do Tower of Terror~! REally, it's not that bad. You do go up high, but you're inside so you don't even know it until the doors open... even then, it's so quick that there's really not any time to fret about how high up you are.

Ohhhh, I'm frettin'! :goodvibes: I saw the ride video. :scared1:

GoofyDad,you are gonna do fine.I always tell myself, right before I get on a new ride at Disney....this IS Disney.I can at least take comfort in KNOWING it IS safe. That has gotten me thru ToT (which I LOVE) and RnR which is AWESOME!! It's just getting ON the ride. That's the hardest part, cuz it's in our heads! Watch, you'll come back and be our new moderator for the new
"Thrill Seekers Info Thread"!!!!! :rotfl2:

My first time going to the doors I couldn't go through with it so I went to the chicken elevator. The second time I did it I went in and sat down. I was apprehensive but I had a good time. Now I go all the time. Notice my name.

Dan-tot

Don't push it but I think you will have a good time.

I did Tower of Terror once because someone dared me. I won't ever do it again. My job has me flying to small cities so usually am on the "cropduster" planes. The planes don't bother me but Tower of Terror sure does.

Goofydad, I just rode TOT for the first time on Friday. I have a fear of open heights, like climbing a tall ladder or anything where there is a fear of possibly falling. However, when I'm strapped into a seat on an indoor ride like TOT, it didn't bother me at all. Even when the doors open for a brief glimpse of outside, it's so short that you don't have time to realize how high up you are. You'll love it!

TOT is actually a controlled drop that goes faster then a free fall, but because it isn't a free fall it doesn't seem to give you that feeling of leaving your stomach at the top (at least it doesn't for me). I do not do the free fall at our local Six Flags or at any other amusement park, but I love Tower of Terror and can ride it over and over.

My DD 6 wants to ride the TT but I am terrified of this ride, I will ride it if she really wants too, but will she get to scared. :confused3
