So my DD (28 yo) has decided to join DH and I in September @ WDW. I think it is nice that she still wants to vacation with the old folks. But then again, she would go on vacation with Jack the Ripper as long as it is at WDW! :lmao:
Anyway, I have been having problems with my feet lately. Any time I wear flip flops I get stabbing pains in my heels and arches. I toyed with getting Crocs for Disney. DD said "absolutely not! They are sooooo ugly!" I got Crocs anyway. They were delivered yesterday and I have been wearing them ever since...REALLY comfortable! DD called last night, and DH said to her "guess what Mom's wearing right now...GATORS!" :rotfl:
DD saidr "OH,NO MOM! Not Crocs! They're ugly and your feet will sweat!" Me: "No, I'm wearing Crocs and socks!"
With this, my DD went into apoplexy and is threatening not to come.
Am I wrong to torture my dear daughter like this?:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Personally, I truly don't care how geeky I will look as long as I am comfy ! Since she moved away, I just don't have as many opportunities to torture DD!:rolleyes1

Thats not torture, if you REALLY wanted to torture her buy HER a pair:cool1:
Seriously, I live in FL and will ONLY wear Crocs to the parks. You will see LOTS of other people in the WDW wearing Crocs. In fact you can BUY Mickey Crocs at Disney!

No! By all means wear them! On the flip side the crocs may not hold up very well when walking for long periods of time. Their arch support is not what a sneakers is. I would hate for you to get splints!

I know that they probably will not be ideal for all-day walking. I plan to bring a couple pair to switch off during the day...Crocs, Tevas, New Balance walking shoes. So far I have worn the Crocs all day doing laundry and hanging it outside:laundy: and doing housework. My feet are still pretty good!:thumbsup2

And DH really doesn't care what I wear on my feet as long as I don't ask him to wear Crocs! He thinks they are ugly too, but just shrugs when I tell him he will see a LOT of them at WDW. I think he is still recovering from being roped into attending the MNSSHP! He thinks "party" and "no adult beverages" just doesn't compute!:lmao:

Please wear them if they are comfy on your feet.

I can see a teenager having a fit, but at 28yo...your DD shouldn't care what shoes someone has on their feet.

That's what I was thinking. 28? I'm sure its all in fun tho at that age, right? (say "right" teehee). I say if you at all think someone is looking at your shoes, say loudly"Thanks darling daughter, these ARE the comfiest shoes in the world. Thank GOODNESS you bought them for me"

that should be... say loudly"Thanks darling daughter, these ARE the comfiest shoes in the world. Thank GOODNESS you let me borrow yours" :lmao:

Bet she will be begging to wear them by the end of the week. We most often do WDW in winter and I wear mine with socks sometimes but we just returned from dollywood when it was 95+ everyday and I wore mine (no socks) for three long days (we walked almost as much as at WDW) and NEVER had one problem.

I had SO many questions on where to fine my pink mickey ones:)

I've found my feet don't sweat in Crocs if I put liquid baby powder on my feet first:) Then again, I don't like wearing socks.

My DS was thrilled that I got two pairs of Crocs for the trip(1 pair of beach and one pair of maryjanes). He watched me open the box and then started jumping around saying Ooooooh Mommy! You got the Alligator shoes with the holes! He then tried to put on a pair and prance around the house. However, he's only 4:P

I'm 30 and I don't ever criticize what shoes my mom wears. However, having difficult feet(most shoes tend to tear up the back of my foot) I know that comfort trumps style ANY day of the week!

I would just like to start off by saying I'm not the anti-croc.. but I don't own a pair.

If you want to be comfortable... walking long periods of time in cool shoes.. let me just say 2 words.. 'FIT FLOPS' - SOOOOOOOOOOOO comfortable, I have 2 pairs. AND they work out your legs and butt.. kill two birds with one stone. They're sold out at a lot of places, I just got mine on Ebay, but apparently Bath and Body Works are supposed to start selling them this month.

Have fun !!!!!

When I read the title of this thread, I thought you were the meanest mom because you wouldn't buy your dd Crocs. Well, I gues I am the meanest mom because I wouldn't buy my dd7 Mickey Crocs. DH just didn't want to spend $32.50 for garden shoes. To tell the truth, I wanted to buy myself a pair of the Mickey Crocs...but again, I couldn't convince dh to spend that kind of money.
So...dd and I came home without Mickey Crocs...and we are the meanest parents ever.

I think you should wear the Crocs or whatever makes you comfortable. I really like the idea of LOUDLY thanking your dd for letting you borrow hers! :rotfl2: :lmao:

You're her parent...it's your job to embarrass her. If you didn't, you'd be shirking (sp) your duties.

Minnieme2DW, that is such a coincidence, because that selfsame DW bought herself a pair of "fit flops" just last week and RAVES about them! I think she got them off the B & B website.
Yes, I'll torture her by wearing Crocs and socks, and she'll torture me by telling me how dorky I look, and we will both laugh at each other. It's all in good fun 'cuz we really adore each other!

My dad started wearing velcro shoes when I was a teenager. Soooo embarrassing! He has bad arthritis that made tying shoes difficult, but still-- they were VELCRO! For the record, he also wears suspenders. :rotfl: Just a reminder that there are things far worse than Crocs! :rotfl2:

I live in a beach resort area and everyone wears Crocs. Everyone. I too thought they were ugly when I lived in Vegas...but now I just see them as standard footwear.

You will find the same thing in Florida no doubt.

I  at your post... until I realised that suspenders in the US aren't what they are in the UK! What we call 'suspenders' I believe you refer to as a 'garter belt' - but hey, if that's what your dad wears, then each to his own :rotfl:

I was the same way when I was 28. My mother is a nurse so she is on her feet all day. SHe would wear the ugliest shoes going out because foot comfort was more important then looking stylish. I would hide my face in shame.

Now I am 35 and work on my feet all day I have a collection of shoes made for comfort.
I actually spent 2 months searching for the perfect disney shoes. Which are lands end sandel/sneakers (not exactly pretty but soooo comfy)- crocks don't fit my feet right because I am between sizes. The smalls to small and the med too big.

She will get over it! When she is 35 you can laugh when she has 'ugly' shoes too!

I wore my Disney crocs all day at the zoo a few months back and had no problems. I plan on wearing them to Disney in 21 days! I will bring extra sneakers for just in case, but I doubt I will wear them!

:yay:

Just let me say....I love your daughter. Its nice to see someone else besides me despises those ugly shoes enough to toy with canceling a vacation. :rolleyes1
