DD and Crocs! A cruel Mom

I have the same heel/arch pains you are describing...and at Disney...Crocs were the only shoes I could wear. I took sneakers and keens...but the Crocs were the only shoes that gave me the shock absorption and comfort. Also, I found they were great at night when that arch is most painful!! I kept them by the bed.

As for your daughter..does she want you pretty...or happy and not complaining about your feet all day long!?

What you need to do is wear them out with your housedress!!!:rotfl:

I was thinking the same thing.

Go out and buy a MooMoo. Bring it with you and put it on the first day and act like your going to wear it to the park with your new shoes.

That will be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:

HAHA!! Then I would look just like my late, beloved Mom!
Honestly, DD is the sweetest young woman you could imagine, she just has an obsession with fashionable shoes! She probably owns over 100 pairs.:scared1:
I think it is a combination of her just wanting her old Mom to look good, and being young and not having any IDEA of middle-age aches and pains!
She may tease me, but it's certainly nothing mean-spirited!
Love ya, Nonie!

Hey, I'm 28 and I won't go out in public with anyone wearing socks and Crocs!! :rotfl: OK, I wouldn't be that extreme, but if it were my mother, I'd make faces and complain a lot. My MIL babysat my son and took him to the park in his Mickey Crocs (Russ begged on a day he knew I'd give in to the stupid Crocs) WITH SOCKS!! How embarrassing, I hope no one I know saw them.

I love my crocs and think they are cute but I wear a ladies size 11 and crocs are supposed to run big so you can just imagine.....I cant bring myself to wear them with shorts. They look ok with my flared and bootcut jeans but in shorts they just make my feet look huge (I had an old man tell me they looked like oversize clown shoes) :rotfl2: so I just stick with my flip flops when wearing shorts.

Now my friend picked up a pair of FitFlops (I'll admit that I laughed at her at first....she took it well) but now that she's been wearing them for a few weeks she likes them better than her crocs. says they are more cushy and give better support (plus as was already mentioned, they give you a little workout while you walk). I think she got them on ebay.

Crocs are VERY VERY popular at Disney, with or without socks! You will see ALL ages wearing them all over the place.

Wear what your comfortable in! I'm sure your DD will get over it. BTW, I am only 30 and I wear them, ugly or not, I go for comfort over style! I guess I'm an old soul! :lmao:

Yes, there are some Crocs that can be ugly...but who cares. I have several pair of Crocs and I am a TOTAL convert. I have even converted my DH, who I quote "Will NEVER wear those ugly things". Guess what, he has about 5 pair now. Even my DD(3) has about 6 pair. Crocs are all she wears. I even went for a job interview the other day and wore regular shoes. I could feel the difference IMMEDIATELY!

I have a few pair of the Sobek's (which are slip on sandle types), I have the Crete's, Capri's, and a pair of the Athen's (all flip flops) and all are so comfortable.

As far as feet sweating...the only one's my feet actually sweat in are the Croc clog one's that have no holes. The one's with the holes, my feet stay nice and cool.

I recently went to Chicago to a conference and was on my feet for 17 hours of the day, for 3 days in a row. I wore my Sobek's and I was SHOCKED that my feet did not hurt at all the entire time.

Everyone in Disney wears them. That is when I decided to give them a try. As soon as I got home from Disney, I ordered my first pair.

As far as torturing your DD. She is 28 years old. Why should you have to torture yourself and your feet, because she thinks they look ugly. Who cares! Wear them in good health and when her feet are aching and tired, get her to give them a try and she will see what the fuss is all about!

By the time our kids are 28, we get so few chances to embarrass them. It was so much easier to do when they were teenagers. You can't let this opportunity just pass you by.

We'll be celebrating my birthday at WDW this Sept. again. So if you see a 14 year old girl pretending she doesn't know her mother who's doing the "Oh yeah, it's my birthday" song complete with hand gestures...that will be me and my DD! I only wish my DD29 was going so I could embarrass her too! Have fun!
