The College Program is generally not an internship as traditionally thought of by education departments, especially those at colleges. It is more of a co-op, where you get work experience during your time there. However, it is more than simply just a co-op, because you can take classes there, network, meet leaders, and do a whole ton of stuff that you can't on others.
That being said, there's nothing about most roles in the College Program that specifically cater to any majors in particular. I will say exceptions do exist. I did my CP in Vacation Planning which gave me a TON of good sales training, and I'm a Marketing major with an interest and concentration in sales. Costuming CPs going into costume design might find the practical experience helpful. But for the most part, you are getting entry-level hourly experience at your time there, and have many opportunities to find out a ton more while you're on it. I'm on a PI now, and it's in marketing strategy, which I didn't REALLY study as much as sales, but the PI is really what gives you that real-life career experience. My fellow PI in my department was an Advertising major but she did her college program in Merchandise- know what I mean? It's about what you get out of it and what you do with that knowledge that enables you to succeed in the future.
