So... from past cruises, my DW and I have had an inside on Wonder, and a verandah on Wonder... We are working our way through our different category rooms just because we can.

We are looking at taking another Xmas cruise with her parents and thinking about the 1BR Concierge Suite. There is also a possibility that it might be two verandah staterooms instead. Besides cost, and the loss of some privacy, would the extra costs be worth the concierge. Any other pros/cons for the difference?

It is going to be a anniversary gift to both parties, if that matters.

I know how they do Xmas cruises so I am not too worried about that.
I am just trying to put a pros/cons list together to see what would be best for our vacation, so any input would be helpful.

So the first question you may want to figure out the answer to is: who will sleep where in the 1BR?.

Personally, 2rooms vs suite would possibly be decided by how much 24/7 time I could spend with these relatives-only you guys know that.

I've not stayed concierge on DCL, but I've stayed concierge recently at Disneyland Hotel -not the same I realize. However, the lounge/treats/drinks in their e-ticket club added to the special experience. Their concierge staff was mostly amazing (and the 2not amazing ones were still good enough for concierge, just not amazing). I chose concierge in that situation for the special touches and I was there during my milestone birthday. I had a somewhat complex issue that occurred, which concierge resolved amazingly quickly -it was practically as if they snapped their fingers and pixie dust came down. This was not at all expected, but very much appreciated and really added to the experience of having a concierge team. Anyway, my point is that you may be looking for that extra special experience to enjoy with your extended party over the holidays. Enjoy whatever it is you decide!

Honestly, the in-laws would get the Master bedroom... they haven't been to Disney in over 15 years... it is somewhat of a gift to them as well, and we want them to have a time they will never forget. Spending time with them isn't a problem I am too worried about. I am just waiting to see what DCL releases for cruise length over Xmas in 2017. Even on our past cruises we were not in our room THAT much, but those were only 3 and 4 night cruises (it is truly amazing HOW MUCH they have to do on their cruises!).

I am thinking that if it is another short cruise, it will be two balcony rooms, longer a suite. I know how Disney does their suites, my DW and I were upgraded on our honeymoon when we stayed at the GF at WDW, all I can say... AMAZING!

Creating a list of cons for a Disney cruise is harder than you think, especially when deciding on staterooms... lol

I have stayed in a 1 bedroom on the Wonder and if your in laws get the bedroom, then that means you will be on the pull out sofa bed? I have tried to sleep on the sofa bed and it was not comfortable - think 4 inch thick "mattress" where you can feel the metal bars & springs. It works fine for our young kids but I couldn't sleep on it for 1 night, let alone a week.

Agree.
Completely.
I think that the option of 2 verandah staterooms would allow all adults to have a decent bed... you could get 2 category Vs (depending on which ship you are planning on sailing with) to enjoy the concierge lounge amenities, if the concierge perks are important to you.
Enjoy your cruise!
