DCL website shows the wish is cancelled 9/30

Why? The paths change by the hour and far out are so hard to know what will happen. It happens all the time that the hurricane takes a turn and changes everything. As long as there is flexible cancel for those that want it leading up what they did was fine.
There was no flexible cancel though. Nobody was allowed to cancel and get their money back. A handful of us were able to persuade DCL to let us reschedule, but it took me half a dozen calls with supervisors and pleading our specific circumstances and many others were told no and not even allowed a reschedule. Those of us that did, our new cruises are in “full penalty” so cannot be moved or cancelled.

Does anyone know how long it takes for refunds? I would have preferred to just transfer the funds to a new cruise but they didn’t give me that option. They said a refund will be issued and to call after 10/5 to book a new cruise. More stress.
Honestly, it can take up to three weeks.

In case folks are curious, those who kept their bookings on this cruise got a full refund and 20% off a future cruise. Not me, because I rescheduled it before they cancelled the cruise, after I couldn't take the waiting any more and it was obvious there was no possible way my family could safely travel from St. Louis to Florida in time for the cruise. But I don't mind the slightest that I am not eligible for the discount because honestly I just got to the point where I couldn't handle the stress any more.

Quite a few people in our cruise group flew or drove down today to get ahead of the storm based on DCL communicating that the cruise would go ahead as planned with a slightly delayed embarkation on Friday. Some of those people are now stuck, with their hotel rooms getting cancelled and no way to get home. I am normally a pretty big cheerleader for Disney, but I think DCL handled this really poorly from a communications perspective.
Did you get any kind of refund?

Not a refund but I was allowed to apply what I’d paid to a new cruise. But that seemed to be an exception rather than the policy—a lot of people who asked to move their cruise were told no.

Yeah I moved my cruise yesterday at noon once the airport was closed. I called this morning asking about getting the 20% down applied to my new cruise since changing my reservation is costing me over a thousand dollars in airfare, park tickets and hotel reservations and was told no. I asked for a supervisor who said they will research and get back to me.

It sounds like fun, but for those passengers stuck on the Wish who have to fly home, trying to find flights out of MCO on Saturday or Sunday may be next to impossible.
So true, for locals or people driving home it would be amazing. For people flying out, probably quite a headache. Also sucks for the people on the next cruise that's cancelled. I saw a video of the announcement being made in Arendelle and the diners bursting into applause lol that would be me

Supposedly they carry several days extra food just in case.
They do, and if they aren't trying to put out massive buffets, I'm sure they could provide 3 basic meals per day for quite a while. And f they're just on a holding pattern close to shore they could get resupplied by another boat in theory. I know there are a lot of rules about where they can get food from, but emergency waivers would be possible I'm sure. Naval vessels do it all the time, but they have specialized equipment to transfer crates and containers from ship to ship. Not sure if cruise ships have that or not.

I'd actually be very interested to learn how the logistics of it would work

They lucked out with it being the weekend..! I can't imagine how stressful the call to my boss would be if I had to tell him I was not coming back on time since I always use every single vacation day as is. :rolleyes1

I'm very sorry for those who had their cruise cancelled and agree it seems unfair they are not being more flexible with folks who did not want to fly into a hurricane to MAYBE sail a few days later.

Agree. While an extra 2 days at sea sounds theoretically like an awesome deal, there are probably a lot of people who have no idea how they are going to get home now or may have to miss extra work and school. Even if I was a local, I would be worried about my house (since probably no one prepped their house beforehand), my pets, my car parked at the port. I know I would still be stressed on the ship 😜

There are presumably also SW Florida folks on the Wish nervous about their homes and communities.

Well, the pilot transfers from a pilot boat onto the cruise ship and then back onto the pilot boat. If they can transfer a person, then they can probably figure out a way to transfer boxes of food, too! Worst case, they could get a helicopter to lower food onto the ship.

If you lived in Florida, (as I do and I'm currently writing from Orlando) you would know that the storm track keeps getting adjusted and Canaveral was previously not in the cone but is now going to take a pretty significant hit.

This has changed dramatically over the last several days. They are making the best possible decisions with the information they are given as the storm changes path.

Sorry about your vacation, but there is far more in play here than "holding on for a dollar"
I am not on a vacation.

And there are the crane-type devices they use for the lifeboats. I'm confident they could figure something out in the VERY unlikely event they needed to.

Yesterday afternoon my wife moved our cruise to January through the chat function on the app and had no problems or pushback at all. In fact, she said that the person she was dealing with was very accommodating. We did have to pay about $170 more because the new cruise was more expensive, but we saved like $60 on the changed airfare, so...

Well there you go—proves my point exactly why they need s consistent announced policy on rescheduling when there is a hurricane rather than this luck of the draw thing where some CMs say no and some say yes.

Could someone who is on the Wish please post an update (when given) regarding expected arrival time at Port Canaveral? My messages aren’t going through to my older family members aboard, and I’m trying to re-arrange their return travel plans!
As of now no updates have been given to us on when we will return to Port Canaveral (currently Saturday or Sunday projection). We were unable to dock at Castaway Cay this morning due to high winds. We have been sailing in good weather around the Abaco islands today.

was on the Wonder years ago when this happened. They had plenty of food and the staff added activities, etc. If I recall we cruised for an extra 3 nights and also were treated to a nights lodging at WDW due to airport issues. It was quite the adventure. Watch out though for ants in your car when you finally return to Port Canaveral. Those smart critters find a place to escape the water in your cars.

I got off Wish on Monday. I met a couple who was doing a back to back and is on the ship now.

We cut our post stay at the Polynesian short and are heading home now. WDW closed the parks today and tomorrow. The worst will happen in the earlier morning hours with winds up to 55 MPH without gusts. The rain will be bad.

Praying for the people of Florida, who I met and saw at the Rest Stops heading north, many looking for a place to stay. And for all who remained. One man told me is expecting it be really bad when he gets back to his home eventually. He said this one is a Monster.

I am sure Disney is doing the best the can with this unpredictable weather system. And that they will take care of all that are affected by the Hurricane.

🙏🏻🤞🏻
