DCL vs Royal Advice needed

Have sailed both DCL and RCCL. Loved both but RCCL is now my number 1. The Oasis class ships are amazing and I'm sure everyone in your family will love it. So much to do for everyone. The one thing I would keep in mind if you choose DCL is that, if your daughters are into the princesses or even other characters, you will spend a lot of your time in line waiting to meet them. To me that was a big time waster. Others don't mind that so much.
If it was my choice I would do the 7 day RCCL. Splitting it means you waste most of one day disembarking and then embarking again plus you have to do two safety drills. Will your daughters find that interesting or will they be bored for the day?

OR
skip Disney cruise entirely and do a 7 day Eastern on Royal's Harmony of the Seas which looks amazing.

That’s definitely my choice.

My son’s Disney cruises were between the ages of 8 and 10 and he liked them fine, but he loves royal.

Also has anyone done a back to back but on different cruise lines?

Yep. Called “side to side” since you’re not on the same ship. :)

And we had different ports.

5 day on Vision of the Seas out of Fort Lauderdale. Got a rental car, drove up to Canaveral, boarded Dream for a 3 or 4 day in concierge.

Liked Vision better. Service was the same as in DCL concierge. Food the same. Cost soooooo much cheaper.

Totally nothing to do with the thread but I'm so happy you liked vision!
Vision class gets a bad rap, but it's my favourite class. Worked 2 vision class ships, my little old ladies haha

7 night cruises tend to get the better staff, shows, ships, amenities, etc. Compared to the 3/4 nt. itineraries on the same lines. My kids' favorite cruise so far was Oasis when they were about 10 and 13. We got a great VGT rate on Fantasy this spring break, so we are going to give DCL another shot, but I suspect we will all prefer the RCCL cruise we have booked next year. Ice rink, movies by the pool, specialty dining, bev packages, and two cabins for thousands less than the cost of one on DCL, plus the pools and hot tubs are much more enjoyable. I'm pretty sure the only reason I'm going back is for the fish extenders. I LOVE those!!!

B2B sounds fun, but we usually try to avoid short cruises, especially around college breaks.

My kids are similar ages to yours and my husband can be a reluctant traveler. I say do the 3/4 split. I think it's a really fun idea!! The fact that the dates line up perfectly makes this ideal. And you will finally get to sail Disney and know for yourself if it's worth it. The PP comment about the placeholder was a great additional benefit to sailing Disney now.
