Dcl Vs. Mariner Of The Seas

That was interesting. Thanks for the comparison. We're looking into RCL for next year. I was thinking the Navigator of the Seas (got a great write-up as "family friendly"). What made you choose the Mariner as opposed to the other ships?

I looked into pricing and for the same type of room, we could sail with RCL for about $2100 less.

Thanks for you report. I'm sure many will find it helpful, especially with prices being as high as they are. Just wondering, did you happen to see either the Magic or the Wonder anytime during your cruise and if so, how did that feel?

Thanks for posting your report! I, too, have sailed on both the Magic and the Mariner. I certainly agree that the gym is amazing...we really enjoyed working out while onboard! And Chops was PERFECT! Did you try the apple pie dessert? It was the BEST we had ever tasted. We enjoyed the service, as well. Portifino's is great, too. We really liked having two specialty restaurants.

We sailed the Western itinerary in March (during the uprising in Haiti) so we had to skip Labadee. Sounds like we missed a real highlight. Bummer.

Also, prices on Mariner in March were high. We had connecting Atrium staterooms (which were cool)...we definately PAID MORE than we would have for connecting Cat 11's on DCL (with FL resident rates.) Maybe I'll check them out again sometime during the off-season.

Anyway, thanks again for the comparisons! I really enjoyed your report.

sweetangel,
We chose the Mariner because we like to sail out of Port Canaveral since we live close to the Orlando area. The main reason though is because it is a brand new ship. It made it's maiden voyage last November.

Pea n me,
When we arrived at PC I was expecting to see the Wonder and was surprised it was not there. I then realized it had not yet come out of dry dock. I wanted to hear the "when you wish upon a star" at sailaway. The Magic was on the Western as well but Cozumel was a different day. The Wonder was in port when we returned. We had such a great time, it didn't matter.

Hooked on Magic. DH had the apple pie and loved it. I had the strawberry cheesecake(not an apple pie person) I had originally wanted to book the Mariner in March or July but it was twice the price as October. We are lucky our kids have a week off in Oct.
