DCL view question

Hey I need some advice from my fellow experienced DVC/DCL members. I am looking at doing the MAY 2011 DCL cruise. However, I do not know which view to get. We are definitely getting the outside view, now the question is veranda or no veranda. We have two kids 3 and 5. If I do the veranda with a steel gate, apparently my kids will have to have x ray vision to see though it, I will need to find a DVC friend and get 2 points (or pay for additional child at $800.00) If I do the veranda with a fence type (bars to see through) I would need 28-30 more points. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
:headache: that is me today after my car got rear ended.
 that is me the more I think about it

We went in August and we had the closed style verandah - IMHO don't bother....unless you are standing you can'see over the top...we sat out there for a few afternoons to just chill out and read for a bit, but towards the end of the trip just went to deck 4 to sit and read in the afternoons, as it was a bummer to sit outside and not see anything.

It all depends on how much you think you'll use the verandah. If you don't think you'll use it that much then I would just go with an oceanview room. That way you would have the porthole, but you also save on points. If you think you'll be using the verandah a lot, then I would go with the extra points and make sure you have one with the plexiglass instead of steel that way your kids can enjoy the view as well without having to climb on the chairs to look out.

Have a great cruise!!!!

Agreed with the above posters. If you will regularly use a verandah, then go for the plexiglass one. Otherwise just get a oceanview room. It's so expensive to get a verandah. One of the best reasons to have a verandah is to sit and see the ocean.

Also agree. It really does depend on how much you feel that you would use the verandah. For us, we use the verandah mainly on sea days. We love to sit out there and just enjoy the peacefulness of it. We also love to sit out there in the mornings and read. For a 3-4 day cruise, I would go for the oceanview room. You will be far to busy in port to spend much time in your room. For a longer cruise, definitely a verandah without question.

We've been on several cruises and never had a verandah - just outside room and it was great BUT last year we did the 3 nite Disney cruise and got the see-thru verandah. We loved it but now we're spoiled and will want the verandah all the time. DH loved sitting out there waiting for me to get ready.:)
