We (DH, DD10, DS5, DD1 and myself) are debating whether to do Trunk Bay on our own or go through DCL. On the DCL site it has the price of $30 for children ages 5-9 and $42 ages 10 and up.

Does anyone know if these are the only ages that DCL allows on each excursions or just the ages that you pay for excursions for?

Put another way- Does anyone know if we would be able to take our 15 month old daughter with us to Trunk Bay if we went through DCL?

Thanks

Those are the only ages that the excursion allows, so to include the 15 month old, you'll need to get to Trunk on your own.

It is a very easy excursion to do on your own also--it involves a couple of "taxi" rides and a ferry ride there and back.

We did Trunk Bay on our own back in May. Just be sure to watch the time so you can catch the ferry back over and make it to the ship on time.

Thanks to both of you!

SueEllen- I noticed on the another thread about doing Trunk Bay on your own that you mentioned a ferry from Charlotte Amalie(sp) verses Red Hook. Could you explain in more depth how to go about doing Trunk Bay on your own? Can you take the Charlotte Amalie ferry both to and from Trunk Bay? Can the taxi's take five of us, if the 1 yo and 5 yo sit on my husbands and mine lap?

We did Trunk Bay on our own with three kids ages 9,7,and 2yo. You just get off the boat as early as possible in St. Thomas - cab over to Red Hook for the 20 minute ferry ride. Once at St. John there are tons of taxis waiting to take you to Trunk Bay. Spend a beautiful day on the beach - there is a snack bar and a place to rent beach chairs. Taxis will be waiting at Trunk to take you back to the ferry dock. You can either go back to Red Hook and Cab back to the ship - or ferry back to Charlotte Amalia and take a very short cab ride back to the boat. By the Way - there is a great little outdoor bar/restaurant right at the ferry dock that you can get a drink for the ferry ride back. It is a piece of cake!!! Just do it!!! You will love it!!!

badger5 or SueEllen,

Do you remember about how much it costs? Someone posted on another site that between both taxi rides and ferry rides that for a family of four it would be about $168 roundtrip. Does this sound about right? Just wondering how much cash to have on hand.
