DCL Treasure - Pool Deck Woes

I am looking for a cruise recommendation. The boss didn't like the Disney Treasure's pool deck -- too many small / shallow pools and pushing for an older Fantasy ship. I prefer 7+ day cruises and typically larger ships -- we cruise mainly RCCL and big Oasis/Icon/Quantum fans. I also prefer to book vacations 1-2 years out which makes DCL difficult due to their shorter booking cycle. I assume DCL Wish and Destiny have the same layout? I noticed Fantasy does have some 7 day so that might work I am concerned it's outdated.

Yes, the Wish and Destiny share a layout with the Treasure.

The Fantasy is undergoing a dry dock starting at the end of September, so it should be spiffed up when it returns to the US. It is about the same size as the Treasure, just configured slightly differently.

You are correct, the Wish and Destiny are the same as the Treasure.

I sailed on the Fantasy in February and had no issues with it being outdated then. I also have 4 more cruises booked on it, in the next year and a half, so obviously I like it. ;) With DCL's recent release, You can book over a year and half out now, if that works for you.

Did she like DCL other than the pools because none of the ships are going to be like Royal's Oasis class or Icon. I'd put it on par with Odyssey in terms of size and lack of activities.

The Dream which is same design as Fantasy. There are 7 nights cruises in the Fall 26 Spring 27 recent drop. Goes out of Fort Lauderdale, spending next summer in Europe.

I sort of like the stacked pools on the Wish, Treasure and Destiny because it leaves space for the sun chairs to watch the funnel vision. Just wish the pool upfront on the top of ship was adult only too because the adult only pool in the back is too small.

Fantasy has only one non shallow pool on main deck. No more then wish class. More pools on wish means more likelihood you will get one to yourself.

And yes fantasy is quite outdated. Dry dock isnt fixing that up. Its just making more concierge rooms

Just curious why you spend so much money to cruise on ships you don't like?

After sailing on the new and fancy Treasure, we CAN NOT WAIT to sail on the outdated and old Fantasy again. Already have 5 cruises booked next winter and spring. Also looking at the 10 night and the adjoining 4 night in July.

Shiny and new isn’t always better.

Some of us love “Vintage”!

What is outdated about it? I love the Classic ships.

Oh yeah, maybe no backup camera . . .
The tech, lighting effects, poor theming, bland art work, atrium design is all very outdated.

I mean the crush show at animators is just embarrassing now, The lighting effects in Enchanted garden are awful, the funnel vision is basically un watchable in daylight hours the screens are so bad, carpets are repetitive, no lighting effects in the atrium, lack of themed bars, technology for detective game is outdated (still enjoyable to play but is outdated) and boy is the pirate show on the older ships just cringe.

We love the wish class. Wonder and magic are ok for short trips.

Never going on a dream class again unless its the only option for the time and itinerary

I must have confused you with someone else. I thought you were on the med cruise next summer.

I feel the same way about the Wish except I would not sail on that ship again even if I liked the itinerary. There are too many ships out there to choose from that I like. I'm not sure why you would sail on the Dream class when there are lots of options out there. I don't see the point in spending money on anything you don't like.

I feel this sentiment among all the cruise forums. I will say Royal has seem to pulled off a hit with the Icon and Star. Considering the size it seems to absorb the passengers well. There are a few misses, but overall it seems to be positive.

The Prima class on NCL and the Princess Sun have very mixed reviews mostly . It's mostly the design issues similar to the negativity you see regarding the Triton class ships. The negativity is rarely about the service, food or appearance.
