DCL transportation from WDW to port bag transfer

Sailing on the Fantasy in October. We will be staying at WDW the night before embarkation. How do our bags get from our hotel to the ship? Does DCL handle that, or do we transport them ourselves?

If you are taking DCL transportation, you’ll get a letter with meeting point and instructions about your luggage the night before.

No, you receive the letter at the WDW resort the night prior to embarkation.

I actually have a similar question: going on the wish in October and we are staying at a hotel in. Port canaveral the night prior. We are headed to Gran Destino after-would it be similar?

DCL doesn't offer transfers from local hotels in Port Canaveral, only from WDW resorts or the MCO Hyatt and MCO.

If you are asking about post-cruise transfers, everyone collects their bags in the terminal before going through Customs post-cruise. There are porters to help if needed. Then your bags will go with you to the bus and arrive at the WDW resort with you.

You can put the bags outside your stateroom the night before debarkation and the stateroom host will make sure it gets out to the terminal for you. So you don't have to lug it all around the ship that morning. But you do claim it in the terminal after debarkation and before Customs, then take the luggage to the bus with you.

We stayed at Grand Destino Tower for 3 night in March before our Fantasy Pixar cruise. We never received a letter but got an email the day before telling us luggage would be picked up early starting at 7:00 am (it was actually picked up from our 3 rooms around 7:20). We were to meet in the lobby around 8:15 with a departure around 9:15 but we actually left the resort closer to 9:45. There was a DCL rep in the lower lobby of GDT at about 8:30.

We needed two buses. One was full of just GDT guests and the other was half filled from Animal Kingdom Lodge guests which picked up the rest of the guests from GDT.

So, to try and summarize this for myself and the thread. Going TO cruise - bags picked up directly from the hotel room and reappear in your stateroom. no DIY bag transport needed. Going FROM cruise - bags picked up from stateroom night before (unless you've chosen express walk-off, but that means sitting on a bus longer), you pick up bags at customs room and take to bus yourself (or get a porter), then at hotel you get off bus, wait for bags to be unloaded from bus, and take them inside to hotel bag desk/your room yourself.
