DCL transfers—which hotel?

We’re planning on doing DCL transfers for the first time this summer, and we’ll spend just one night before the cruise in a WDW hotel.

Based on people’s experiences, are there certain WDW hotels that are especially good or bad choices, based on pickup time (we prefer early) and experiences? Or are they all about the same/luck of the draw? Right now my top contenders are Wilderness Lodge or French Quarter based on small size/walk to buses and the fact that I just like both resorts.

My 2 favorite resorts! I don’t think there is a big difference in pick up times. For me it has more to do with how much time you have the day before and what you want to do (& spend). They pick your bags up in the room, so that’s one less concern.

To some degree it's luck of the draw, because it depends on how many hotel guests are also taking port transfers. We stayed at POR because we got a good rate, and we filled a bus by ourselves. On the way back we stayed at WL, and we were the only people getting off at WL.

Based on my camera roll, we left POR at just before 10:30 (it took a while to load everyone on the bus) and then my next photo is after security (there was a decent line and we had issues with our MB+ linking so it took longer than planned) and we were outside the bathrooms at 12:09, seated at Arendelle around 12:30
