Okay, we're planning on getting married on the Wonder next May. Spoke to Kathy yesterday. I want to do Disney Wedding Invitations and I have a very tacky question. When doing the invitations, how do you tell your invitees that you are not paying for their cruise and transportation and that's on them. (Do you include the prices for the different cabins etc?) lol

As I invite them, I don't want them to think we are paying for the cruise also. I would love to, but I didn't win the lottery yet. How far in advance do you send out the invitations? When normally planning a cruise, I book ASAP to get a good cabin and guarantee the price won't go up.

Thanks for any advice

Bev

Send out something ahead of time quoting prices and how to go about booking the cruise, perhaps with your save the date. You can also include the ships itinerary and any other information you wish them to have, such as encouragement to book up early. Then mail your invites separately. :)

I would send out your invites much earlier than normal since people have to plan for a trip if they are going to come. We are sending our save the date out a year before hand, so it gives everyone a chance to plan (or request our wedding as their vacation time off work, if that's what they choose to do). We are going to send out the actual invites 6-8 months in advance because our RSVP date is going to be earlier as well. Since we are paying for a welcome dinner and after wedding breakfast aside from the actual reception we want to get a better idea of how many people will be coming. We also want to get a better idea of how many people are staying at our hotel to see if we want to arrange airport transportation or not. So my answer would be EARLY. If you aren't doing a save the date I would recommend sending out your invites even eariler.

We aren't paying for anyone's accommodations, but we are including an "accommodations" card, which will include the discounted hotel rate and how they can reserve. You can do something similar by including a similar card with the cabin options, airport transfer prices to the pier, etc. You can make it really appealing by putting the ship's schedule with stops and letting people know that their cabin price includes food, etc.

Hope this helps!

I personally wouldn't think that if I was invited, that the bride/groom would be paying. With that said, I agree with the other responses; send them out as soon as possible, ask Kathy if DCL has any type of card that can go in it so that your guests would have a specific person they can speak with about booking, and maybe start talking to everyone you would be inviting to let them know ahead that you are sending them out and why (you want people to have enough time to save). I know with our vow renewal, people just jumped on the bandwagon to come with us....we paid for the extra people at the ceremony and at Palo that night.....and they were able to link all of our reservations together so that we ate at the same time, and all of our tables were clustered together in the dining rooms.

Also, are you having a party upon your return for those who aren't going? If so, maybe you could put that in your invite with a little note "for those who can't go on the cruise"....of course much more tactfully than that...;)

Good luck and have a blast.....we did.

Cheryl

We are getting married on a DCL cruise in Sept 09 what we did was put a website together with all the pricing & held 30 cabins through a travel agent. That is the least we could do is to make sure all of our guests could get on the cruise. So far we have had no questions regarding us paying. :thumbsup2
