DCL returning to NYC in Fall 2016

The Disney Magic’s arrival to New York City today sparked a grand announcement: We’re returning to the Big Apple in 2016 for sailings to both the Bahamas and Canada!

New York

• Sailings from New York to the Bahamas include a visit to Walt Disney World Resort, plus a Park Hopper ticket and round-trip transportation between the ship and the resort. All New York to Bahamas voyages also include a stop at Castaway Cay.

I just went on the DCL website to check something else and saw the NY cruises for 2016! I am so excited!, I live in NJ so it's perfect. My son may have to miss a few days of school for this one.

But they don't start until October! We are outside of Philly, and the NYC departure in 2012 worked out so well for us. Guess I'll just have to stick with my plans of sailing out of Port Canaveral this August!

Happy to see thus. We live on Long Island and did the 5 day trip to Nova Scotia in the Fall a few years back. Have been hoping they would come back ever since.

I just looked at the calendar, I thought the 10/29 sailing would cover Jersey week but it is the following week! You are right, why didn't they extend it one more week? I was willing to let my son miss a couple of days of school but not a whole week!

Well...you can leave from NYC on Nov 5, but would have to fly back from San Juan on Nov 11 (or the 12th/13th).

Since there is no mention of Nassau, do you suppose this is a double dip?

We did a 2012 August cruise out of NYC and it was amazing - the higher price was worth it, given we didn't have to fly. The sea days on that trip were so much fun. We don't take our kids out of school for fun trips, so unfortunately this news it bittersweet to us. Holding out hope for Summer 17 though!

I'm confused, does that mean that during the cruise one of the ports of call is port canaveral meaning you go to WDW for the day and then back to the ship?

yes...everyone on the cruise gets a 1-day park hopper ticket

oh wow, that would be pretty cool. dates of the cruise are not exactly family friendly though, aren't kids in school?

I'm hopeful for a summer 2017 cruise out of NYC...two teachers so we can't do a cruise during the school year. Of course, DH wants to go to the carribean, so DCL might not be a good option out if NY anyway...

I am thinking about that one! i feel like I can't pass up sailing out of NYC since its in my backyard. I will decide on Wednesday when I see the prices.
