DCL removed verandah tables from Dream

I didn't think anything of it, but we did not have a table on my 3/3 Dream sailing and we were in 7632. The more I'm reading, it's not too new (at least for some cruisers) but the power of social media is making this in the forefront now. I can't validate the others but one comment went back as far as December. I wonder if more cruisers don't have tables now versus those who do?

If most of the verandah railings are plexiglass, kids can see through them...why are they standing on tables to see over them? Unless the incident took place on a whitewall balcony. Any kid that stood on a table would just as quickly stand on a chair so let's get rid of those as well. From now on we can only sit on towel animals while eating/drinking off the balcony floor. Good times.
We had a plexiglass verandah and my five year old started to try to stand on the table. She put her knee up there and was promptly corrected. She could see fine through the plexiglass. Kid logic does not always make sense. I don't see the point of removing the tables either. She could have easily thought about standing on one of the chairs. Waiting to see if this is anything legit or if we are being trolled. :scared:

Not to mention, the table is integral to certain verandah club member experiences!

BLEAH. And now I want brand new furniture with every sailing LOL.

And none of you watched the Port Canaveral Cam to try and see if this was true?? Must I do everything?? Lets all watch the Nassau cam tomorrow and see what we can see. :surfweb:

It was already posted about!

Honestly, I just watched her sail away on the PC Webcam and there were tables on the concierge verandahs. Calling bull on them being removed.

We got off the Dream today. No table on our veranda. Just 2 chairs. My family had 4 cabins. No tables on any of them.

If this is true and going to be happening on all ships, it does disappoint me. We are balcony cruisers and enjoy our time having a morning coffee or breakfast on our balcony space.

Or maybe those who sail with young kids would have the table removed. Why do two adults need to have the table removed from their verandah?

according a tweet from a current passenger on the Dream, DCL has removed the verandah tables due to safety concerns over kids standing on them. the DCL blog has posted an update describing the same with links to the tweets.

We were on our first Disney cruise in February onboard the Dream and we did NOT have a table on our verandah. We thought it was very odd, as like others have posted, there was no were to sit drinks/food. With this being our first cruise, however, I didn't give much thought to it...oh, and fwiw, we were traveling with our three children (10, 7, 5). I sure would like a table on our verandah for our next cruise!:)

Ugh. I was hoping this was an April Fools joke. Next thing you know, there will be child safety locks on the toilet, regardless if you have a child in the stateroom or not. I hope this is not a permanent change.

This really makes no sense....DCL has been sailing since 1998 and just now there seems to be a problem with kids trying to stand on tables? I am sure it has been attempted thousands of times since DCL started. Could they be replacing all the tables with new ones? If a child will climb on a table they will climb on a chair as well.

Exactly! I really thought this was an April Fool's joke at first. Until I realized that it was posted yesterday (3/31).

We really enjoy our verandah time, and a table is essential. I'm trying to decide if it makes more sense to simply move the stateroom table outside or to purchase a small folding table to bring with us.

On the info from a PP, we will move our stateroom table /trunk outside if we cannot get our room steward to replace the verandah table if it's missing.
