according a tweet from a current passenger on the Dream, DCL has removed the verandah tables due to safety concerns over kids standing on them. the DCL blog has posted an update describing the same with links to the tweets.

What's next the remove the chairs. People need to watch their kids and not ruin the verandah experience for everyone else. If your child can't be trusted not to stand on a table or chair then get a port hole room or inside room.

So basically, because a few parents can't be trusted to watch their children, no one is allowed to have a table on their balcony. That is just ridiculous. We often eat breakfast, sometimes lunch on our balcony. How many times do people sit out there enjoying their favorite beverage??? (every day for us) And I totally agree with Wilkeliza that chairs will be next. It actually makes no sense to take the table and leave the chairs. If the kid is going to climb on the table, they will climb on the chairs as well. And what about staterooms with only adults???? I'm pretty sure my 19 year old knows better than to climb on a table while out on the balcony.

It's funny, I've read all the threads on the Mickey mail being discontinued, the alcohol policy change and just said, "meh - don't care". But this really ticks me off. Don't be messing with my balcony!!!

h, come on! Seriously? If kids standing on the tables is an issue, kids standing on the chairs is equally an issue. Removing the table does not solve the problem of parents not watching their kids, or kids climbing on furniture. Kids can climb on the chairs perhaps even easier than the tables. This seems to be a reaction to something legal....

Really honestly, this is crazy. I don't usually stay in a verandah room but if I did I would want something to set my drink on or place a book on.

I guess an email to DCL is in order. This is ABSURD!! As previously mentioned, if parents are that obtuse and are not going to pay attention to their kids, or are actually encouraging jr to climb up on the table to have a looksee over the railing, then what is going to stop them from using the chairs???

I already pay a premium for a verandah and I've sat quietly by as DCL keeps raising the price for their cruises, trying to come up with excuses to justify it my husband why we should keep sailing them. And they slowly keep taking things/charging for things now.

All I can see happening now are people taking the chest/coffee table trunk in the state room out on the verandas now>:(

Don't give people ideas. Next your stateroom will only have some sheets and a blanket for a bed, so that someone does not use the mattress to see over the rail.

I just came off the Dream today - we had three rooms with verandahs, each had 2 chairs, 2 lounge chairs and a table. Rooms 9176, 9174 and 9674.
The person that reported it to Scott's blog is currently on board, so it may have happened in between your sailing and the one that left today. Either that, or they are just trolling us all. Which I honestly hope is the case. It just makes no sense.

So because parents can't be bothered to supervise their children when they are on the verandah, ALL passengers will lose their tables?

We had our first verandah in January (and have another one booked for August) and you can bet your sweet A my kids were not out there alone. Though they are older (6&8) and KNOW better than to STAND on tables! :sad2:

Honestly, I just watched her sail away on the PC Webcam and there were tables on the concierge verandahs. Calling bull on them being removed.

Ill have to go look at tweets, but I wonder if on a reservation if it says child under a certain age, they pull the tables but not from a room that has say 2 adults.
