So many people are upset about recent DCL policy changes..no smoking on verandah's and shorts allowed in MDR's now.

Call me crazy but although I am happy with both, I do not see why so many people are so upset. Get over it and just follow the policy. If you are that upset cancel your cruise because we don't need a bunch of disrespectful, passive aggressive rule breakers ruining everyone else's cruise because they feel they are above the DCL's law and the rule shouldn't or doesn't apply to them.
:thumbsup2

Anyway, while on the subject. What other policy changes would you like DCL to make?

I would like to see no alcohol brought on board and limit serving alcohol to dinner and into the evening.

I would like to have a personal servant who could cater to my every whim, or maybe a couple of cute young girls to feed this old man some grapes.

I'd also like the Walt Disney suite reserved for me it an Inside Cabin price.

PS: posted with my tongue firmly in my cheek:thumbsup2

Happy100, well said. My thoughts exactly. :thumbsup2.
Can't think of any changes other than I don't care for the dining times. They never seem to fit my schedule. 5:45 is too early for me and 8:15 a bit late.

I love the change to shorts at dinner as long as the nice looking shorts.
I am on vacation and want to relax.

No offense intended here, but I laughed at this...you'd see DCL out of business faster than you can blink an eye.

None taken ;) I just don't see why people need to drink all day just because they are on vacation.

Drinking is a personal choice. If you choose to limit your ETOH intake on vacation for during dinner hours and after, that's your choice to make. Just as if I, or anyone else choose to enjoy a drink poolside, we should be able to! I like to enjoy my vacation and don't think I should be told by other adults what hours I'm allowed to drink ETOH!

I totally agree with the dining times too. 5:45 is early and 8:15 is late but I suspect to get everyone fed in the evening one has to be earlier then usual and the other a little later then usual.

I myself prefer 7 for dinner but that would make the early at 4:30. Which is way too early. Not sure if there is a way around this?:confused3

I guess some folks see these changes as "take aways" that will negatively impact their ability to enjoy their vacation. While I support these changes, I can see the other side, but I would respect the new policies, or spend my cruise $$s else where. Time to get off the soap box & watch some NFL Preseason. :rotfl2:

I can certainly understand while people are upset and while I don't condone passive-aggressive rule-breaking, that's exactly what got the MDR policy changed. DCL wouldn't enforce it's rules and found it easier to just cave. I don't care for it but the world isn't ending. But already we have people debating that their swimwear is just like shorts or no shorter than some skirts.

As for the smoking thing, I'm not a smoker but I really do understand people being very angry about the DCL bait and switch. That's pretty rotten. I don't advocate nor support anyone violating the new rules but after reading some of the posts on another thread about cigarette narcs lurking on balconies to catch their rule-breaking neighbors, it made me want to light up just to spite them.

Not a change, technically, but I'd love to see an enforcement of the "towels left on chairs before 10am will be removed".

We saw ROWS of chairs go empty for hours with nothing but deck towels sunning themselves. We usually only grab two for the four of us because someone is always in the pool/slide/whatever.

The ONE day we saw towels removed the owner came running over, screaming at the CM. He pointed to the sign and handed her her stuff, but only after waving over a family who had been circling the pool for ages and gave them the seats.

I would like to see the height limit on the Mickey slide done away with.....it sure looks like fun (at least that is what my children tell me). ;)

Looks like it is pretty difficult to develop rules when you deal with so many different types of people. Some argue shorts in MDR are fine and comfortable, others worry of the slippery slope to inappropriate attire, maybe this is an opportunity for DCL to set a starting point and send people back who are not appropriately dressed.

Some smokers, not all, are irate about the no veranda smoking, others who are stuck on verandas next to or above smokers were equally upset before, not to mention the propensity to flick buts overboard . The airlines learned you can't segregate a part of a plane to designate non smoking, people still constantly complained. There are still very large areas of the ship smoking and if you have been to any commercial buildings during a day or any medical facilities, smokers are accustomed to seeking a smoking area.

People generally accept rules that are equally enforced, DCL should review all its rules and those they are going to enforce keep and if not make them requests.

Ditto. We eat about 7 and 8:15 is a bit late. We have early dining and if we are not hungry guess we can eat at the buffet or room service.

I'm right there with you on both. Happy, Happy, Happy. :cool1:
