DCL not going forward with Conversion of Magic 4A cabins to Concierge

It's probably delayed for a few years, once all the cruise credit is used, and they can make some money of it. At the moment there is no incentive for Disney to do convert them with people using the credit for a higher category than rhey had.

I doubt they would scrap either of the classic ships just because DCL takes a lot of pride in their ships, they are constantly cleaning them and keeping them in tip top shape. Because of that I don't see DCL getting rid of the Magic or the Wonder just because of that.

But, it is 2020 so I guess nothing is out of the question.

People love the classic ships. I don’t ever see them scrapping them. I feel like they may possibly become more “niche market” or “specialty cruise” vessels as the other new ships come online, but as long as they can keep them I good enough shape, they’re going to be money makers (post-Covid).

and then, when they’re finally too expensive to continue to keep them seaworthy, they’ll park them somewhere and make them a Resort Hotel, just like the Queen Mary (which Disney did own at one point!).

People that can’t afford a full cruise (either the time or the money) could have an “immersive cruise ship experience”, staying in cabin for a night or two, or just making a (paid) dining reservation for Rapunzel’s, Tiana’s, or Palo, or buffets at Cabana’s/Lumiere’s/Tritons.

They could even have a few decks that they sold off as DVC studio cabins. I could say my home resort is the Wonder, lol.

I wonder if the classic ships are too large to hall to the park waters? Probably? I mean they pulled the shuttle with the Ford truck right?

Do you mean put, say, the Magic in the Discovery River bay? I think it's way too big for that.

They used a Toyota Tundra, and it was only about 300 yards (just across an overpass). The shuttle weighs 33 tons, the Magic weighs 83,000 tons. Hmmmm.... I don't think so.

I was thinking a port somewhere... Somewhere like Long Beach, or Port Canaveral make sense for proximity to parks, or Vancouver or Boston to spread some Disney around the country, but a freshwater location would probably be better for the ship. Someplace like Chicago would be intriguing. It's a crazy idea to bring them inland someplace close to the parks, probably impossible, but a cool idea.

They won't scrap The Magic when The Wish starts sailing for the simple fact that many of the European ports, both Mediterranean and Northern Europe are not suitable for the ships the size of The Dream, The Fantasy and The Wish. Some of the ports are tender only ports for The Magic due to the size of the port.

Its very likely that The Magic will be year round in Europe. Before Covid the winter Mediterranean routes are very popular with the other lines, and Disney missed out on the very profitable winter season here in Europe.

My prediction is that The Magic will do HOTHS, Very Merry Time, Star Wars and Marvel cruises in the Mediterranean, when The Wish starts sailing.

No I figured they would not scrap it but in 50-75 years when they start to run ships on solar or wind energy and ships are are all molded out of fiberglass in a single pour! Then maybe it will be obsolete. LOL

Well I’m just going to have fun with this, and say they can cut it in half like they do when they make ships larger now. Then when they crack her belly open dump the motor, that will make her feel light as a feather. Then maybe get the weight down to, 40ish tons each half. Then film the whole thing put it on Nat Geo while using plenty of product placement(special made Goodyear tires) to lower the cost and let some auto company use it as a commercial to reduce transportation costs. Interview people as it goes by and they will all say they want to stay on the ship next summer when they visit Disney. It can be a 3 part series that is actually one long commercial in 3 parts.

You welcome Disney! Call me if you have questions! Dang this was fun to write.
Almost forgot to tell you every night is pirate night!

Oh and to stay within OPs Theme here,... That would also be a good time to have those concierge rooms already changed over and make more connecting rooms.

More jokes sorry....
So if they stay on the Magic and it’s ported at WDW do they post on the Dreams Unlimited travel page or a different thread?
