"DCL Klondike Kruisers" - August 23, 2011 PART 2

We leave here on the 13th and I've done NOTHING!!!! Just gather a few things that are thrown on the couch in the sitting room. I have a feeling that by the 12th we would have wished we had booked the all-nekid version of an Alaskan cruise!!!! Much less packing that way!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

No offense but that is one cruise that I will definitely NOT be signing up for. I don't think I should be participating in that sort of trip.

We got our paperwork in the mail!! Now it feels real and it is getting so close. There is so much left to finish and do before we leave. (finish my master's project, get my classroom ready now because missing first day because of the cruise, along with all the stuff for the cruise) I am even going on a week long trip to Iowa for the Knoxville Nationals (sprint car racing) and wont be home from that until 3 days before we leave for CA and the D23 Expo which is back to back with our cruise. It makes me tired just thinking about it this morning!

It was definitely a family affair for us too. My little sister introduced us to the books after her sixth grade teacher read them to her in class. My dad hopped on board and took us to the midnight release parties of book four all the way to the end. The very last book release party was super sad for us as a family. He would even dress up with us too! Gotta love dads! The midnight movies weren't my dad's thing, but he loved the movies too. Haha, he doesn't like going to the movies. It's home theater for him! It's so sad now that it's over, but my sister is re-reading them all to make her feel better!

My kids took the books when they moved out and I am waiting until they come out for Kindle. I am glad your animals are doing better. It is in the high 90's this week and with the heat index over 110 so my basset (walter) is not happy that it is so hot and that I am making him go out in the heat. I have not made him go for walks so he should be greatful for that. :lmao:

My brother and his family just got some chickens and they were getting into their garden too along with the rabbits and deer. They planted one garden for the animals and a fenced one for them. My neice said they have to eat too.:lmao::worship:

We went in Austin with Ds and his girlfriend, we enjoyed it. Made me sad this morning when we left. I am tired of saying good bye to my kids:sad2:

I can't wait for this trip to be with my disney family!!

How was Scott? Any wedding talk? I am really getting excited about the trip. That is sad to leave your babies. It has been so nice since we have worked things out with Alisha and Ryan. We saw Aidan on Sunday and we had so much fun.

Did you see Tommy's update on facebook? He is so going to $pay$ for that slip on the cruise. ;) My DH updated our anniversary on my facebook and put the wrong date. :scared1: We will be married 30 years in Sept and you would think he would have the date right by now. We were married on the 19th but he always says it was the 21st. :lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

That made me tired just reading this. :lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

Today, docs arrived. Tomorrow: rain gear acquisition!

We bought the packable rain jackets from Lands End and waterproofing spray for our jeans. I'll take an old pair of each of ours and spray them, so if it isn't comfortable, we can just trash them after the cruise.

I bought packable rain pants for everyone in our party....they don't take up space and we will have them if needed.....rain isn't going to stop this family!

I won't go that far. The spray stuff works pretty well, but I've got non-jeans khakis to wear. Lighter, dries easier, less heavy. I'll probably add in an umbrella, but DD always true to use it and then the edge is at my eye-level. Don't want to poke an eye out!

Give me more info - should we buy this spray stuff or just bring khakis?

Mindy, we bought the spray stuff and are going to spray one pair of jeans to take with us to wear if it's raining that day. I've read good reviews of the stuff, so decided to go with it. It's supposedly breathable so shouldn't make the fabric much heavier. I picked up my can at Eastern Mountain Sports in Marketfair.

Oh my goodness that is adorable! I can just imagine a little garden set aside for the critters. Luckily I don't have deer or rabbits to worry about. I'm just far enough in town to not have those coming into my garden. Just chickens, and they are enough trouble! :lmao:

That heat doesn't sound nice at all. It's been extremely mild here. Nothing I can't handle. Keep you and Walter cool!

The spray stuff is a good option, especially if your wardrobe is limited ;). Try it on a pair of pants in your giveaway pile to see how it goes on and survives the washing machine before you put it on your new stuff.

Scott was good, it was nice to see him. We probably won't see him again until Christmas.:sad2: No wedding plans yet, but they are so sweet together, Sunday night she made his lunch for Monday!!!

Yes I did see Tommy's ****oo, I think that's a round of drinks for all!!!!:rotfl:

Bribed DS to make our door signs (after all I paid a fortune for him to learn that stuff in school) and am waiting on the file so I can print and laminate. Already have my box started for the door message boards, markers, FE gifts, FE holder. This weekend I am going to start trying on clothes and packing. So hot here that I am certain I will not need any of the jeans or shirts.

So what am I forgetting?

I know what you mean!! The heat is unbearable here in PA! It is hard to imagine needing jeans and hoodies next month. I think the cooler weather will be welcoming at that point though! What did DS major in?

I sure hope we won;t need all the rain gear. Ours is a umbrella and mickey poncho's!!:rotfl:

I hope so too! I'm ok with cool weather, but no rain for my cruise, please! I think I'll try to bring things I wouldn't mind getting wet, but that aren't specifically things I would wear ONLY in rain. I never use umbrellas so I know I won't need one of those! :rotfl:

I think I will probably do what many of you are doing, and start trying on clothes for packing this weekend. It's so hard to decide what to bring because it's just so warm here! Not super hot, but it's hard to think about long sleeves and jeans in this weather.
